A senator from The Old Guard summarily shut down the “Fake News Arlington hoax” with a key fact about the Biden-Harris administration’s behavior toward the Abbey Gate 13’s Gold Star families.
“You know who the families also invited?…Where were they?”
Tag team interviews were far from the only assists that Vice President Kamala Harris was privy to as corporate media sought to salvage a failed line of attack against former President Donald Trump, further emphasizing the shame borne by the incumbents for the disastrous Afghanistan withdrawal.
Despite the lack of accountability for the 13 service members killed when an extremist detonated a bomb outside the airport in Kabul in Aug. 2021, Harris’ team sought to re-rack the “suckers and losers” hoax as they ran with allegations of a confrontation at Arlington National Cemetery Monday when Trump marked the third anniversary of the deaths alongside members of their families.
NBC News’ Kristen Welker picked up the thread Sunday on “Meet the Press” when she questioned Arkansas Sen. Tom Cotton (R) who readily smacked down the supposed photo op narrative as reports suggested employees had been at odds with Trump campaign staff.
“He didn’t take campaign photos there. These families — Gold Star families — whose children died because of Joe Biden and Kamala Harris’ incompetence, invited him to the cemetery, and they asked him to take those photos,” asserted the lawmaker.
“You know who the families also invited? Joe Biden and Kamala Harris. Where were they?” asked the veteran U.S. Army captain before providing the answers. “Joe Biden was sitting at a beach. Kamala Harris was sitting at her mansion in Washington, D.C. She was four miles away — ten minutes. She could’ve gone to the cemetery and honored the sacrifice of those young men and women, but she hasn’t.”

Cotton’s military record included a transfer to the 3rd U.S. Infantry Regiment at Fort Meyer, better known as The Old Guard, where he had served as a platoon leader among the soldiers responsible for memorial affairs missions including dignified transfers at Dover Air Force Base and funerals at Arlington National Cemetery.
The senator explained to Welker that he had personally spoken to a number of the Gold Star family members who reiterated their wishes for the photos while also recounting that Harris, “never has spoken to them or taken a meeting with them. It is because of her and Joe Biden’s incompetence that those 13 Americans were killed in Afghanistan.”
As had been previously reported, after the vice president used the memorial for “playing politics,” a number of the Gold Star parents released videos decrying the shameful behavior of Harris who, along with President Joe Biden, they held responsible for the death of their children.
Sunday, after he had shared those videos on his social media pages, Trump delivered another message to the Gold Star families when he wrote, “I want to thank the families of our Great Warriors who have been lost to us for the way they came together as one, and thanked me for attending, at their request, the Celebration of their wonderful family members who, because of the Incompetence of Kamala Harris and Joe Biden, are no longer with us.”
“Thank you for saying you wanted me to stand with you at Arlington National [Cemetery], and take pictures, that it was your request, not mine, but it was my Great Honor to do so. I WILL NEVER FORGET! Lightweight V.P. Kamala Harris tried turning it around, because they weren’t there, have never spoken to the families, and have no intention to do so,” he went on.
The president also decried the incumbent administration’s broad failures on the global stage and said, “In Afghanistan, you don’t take the Soldiers out first, you take the Soldiers out last. This would be Military 101, the most basic, and the ‘leaders’ of that Disaster should be immediately fired. We have FOOLS in the White House, and now, they are trying to solve the Hostage Crisis in Israel. Guess how that’s going to turn out?”
Before the interview came to a close after roughly 15 minutes of Cotton tearing apart Welker’s word games, the senator made sure to take a shot at corporate media as well when the moderator brought up another Gold Star family’s reaction to seeing their loved ones headstone in the photos taken during Trump’s visit.
“Frankly, I think it’s pretty disappointing that The New York Times went and found a family whose headstone was featured in that photograph, of another Gold Star family, and then went to them to try to embarrass the Gold Star families who wanted President Trump there,” said the lawmaker.
