Former President Donald Trump is on the verge of declaring a “holy war” against pop sensation Taylor Swift, according to reports.
Speaking with Rolling Stone magazine this week, a source close to the former president said he’s considering launching a “holy war” against her if she endorses President Joe Biden for the 2024 race.
Rolling Stone’s reporting comes days after The New York Times confirmed that Swift is on President Biden’s “wish list” of potential election surrogates.

Swift “can move millions of supporters with an Instagram post or a mid-concert aside,” the Times reported. “She endorsed Mr. Biden in 2020 and, last year, a single Instagram post of hers led to 35,000 new voter registrations. Fund-raising appeals from Ms. Swift could be worth millions of dollars for Mr. Biden.”
“The chatter around Ms. Swift and the potential of reaching her 279 million Instagram followers reached such intensity that the Biden team urged applicants in a job posting for a social media position not to describe their Taylor Swift strategy — the campaign had enough suggestions already,” according to the outlet. “One idea that has been tossed around, a bit in jest: sending the president to a stop on Ms. Swift’s Eras Tour.”
This report evidently did not sit well with Trump, who has since privately alleged that he’s “more popular” than her and has more fans than she does, according to Rolling Stone’s sources.
Moreover, last month he reportedly complained about Swift being named Time magazine’s 2023 Person of the Year, arguing privately that it “obviously” made no sense that he wasn’t picked.

Rolling Stone’s sources further said that Trump’s camp — including “loyalists working on or close to the former president’s campaign, longtime Trump allies in right-wing media, and an array of outside advisers to the ex-president” — all assume Swift will eventually endorse Biden again.
If that happens, expect war. Indeed, many in Trump’s camp have already begun “brainstorming different ways to go after Swift.
“Since late last year, these Trump allies have repeatedly discussed how to turn the culture-warrior dial up to 11 if she re-endorses Biden this year,” Rolling Stone notes.
“It would be more fuel thrown onto the culture-war fires,” a source inside Trump’s reelection campaign said. “Another left-wing celebrity who is part of the Democrat elite telling you what to think.”
Meanwhile, a number of figures on the right in general have begun speculating that Swift and her boyfriend, Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, will announce their support for Biden during her expected appearance next week at Super Bowl LVIII:
I wonder who’s going to win the Super Bowl next month. And I wonder if there’s a major presidential endorsement coming from an artificially culturally propped-up couple this fall. Just some wild speculation over here, let’s see how it ages over the next 8 months.

Trump himself last spoke out publicly about Swift six years, after she slammed Republican Sen. Marsha Blackburn and endorsed two Tennessee Democrats in the 2018 midterms.
“You know, Marsha Blackburn is doing a very good job in Tennessee, she’s leading now substantially,” Trump said at the time. “She’s a tremendous woman. I’m sure Taylor Swift doesn’t know anything about her. And let’s say that I like Taylor’s music about 25 percent less now.”
Dovetailing back to the present, the anti-Swift chatter is quickly gaining steam.
“Don’t get involved. Don’t get involved in politics; we don’t want to see you there,” Fox News host Judge Jeanine Pirro recently said. “Joe Biden is in [a] hole with young people, he knows it. And if he thinks Taylor can get him out of that hole, he’s gonna go for it.”
Back in November, Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk warned that Swift was “going to come out in the presidential election” and “mobilize her fans,” adding that “all the Swifties want is swift abortion.”
Speaking with Rolling Stone, John McLaughlin, a top pollster for Trump, said he for his part doesn’t believe a Biden endorsement from Swift would change much of anything.
“Since Biden is so weak, they need others to shore up his credibility. Won’t matter [since] his disapproval is driving the race. Voters aren’t fools,” he said.
“Celeb endorsements of Biden are like donating to Nikki Haley. They are a means of virtue signaling. It’s like wearing a medical mask in public after Covid.… Celebrities can endorse Biden, but it doesn’t lower inflation, stop wars, fix the border, or lower crime. Biden’s job approval still sucks. So Trump is still winning and will win,” he added.
