While it remains to be determined whether the leaked audio of former President Donald Trump will help or hurt him, the fact that CNN “exclusively obtained” the tape left many damning the Justice Department and calling for new felony investigations.

In an exclusive first aired by CNN’s Anderson Cooper, the corporate media outlet aired audio that corresponded to a taped conversation detailed in the federal indictment from Special Counsel Jack Smith. What had previously been touted as “evidentiary manna from heaven” could now be treated as an “effort to influence the jury pool” all in the name of keeping the focus away from the latest details in President Joe Biden’s own alleged scandal.
“Isn’t it amazing? I have a big pile of papers, this thing just came up. Look,” Trump could be heard saying conversationally as he shuffled through unspecified papers and making reference to Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman Gen. Mark Milley. “This was him. They presented me this — this is off the record — but they presented me this. This was him. This was the Defense Department and him.”
What was more amazing to some was the timing of the release of the dubiously obtained audio as it related to Biden. The sitting president has been feeling the heat as more details have emerged about his alleged criminal bribery scheme and the DOJ’s supposed involvement in interfering with the investigation of Hunter Biden.
“Isn’t it interesting how CNN gets evidence from the Special Counsel’s case as soon as the walls start closing in on Biden,” wrote Mike Howell from the Heritage Oversight Project.

Amazing how this happens. All happenstance, I’m sure.

Journalism is about covering important stories. With a pillow, until they stop moving.

The former president had already contended when speaking with Fox News host Bret Baier that, “There was no document. That was a massive amount of papers and everything else talking about Iran and other things. And it may have been held up or may not, but that was not a document. I didn’t have a document, per se. There was nothing to declassify. These were newspaper stories, magazine stories and articles.”
CNN even made note of a specific article that had been published around the time of the audio and reported “that Trump at the time was furious over a New Yorker article about Chairman of the Joint Chiefs Gen. Mark Milley that said Millley argued against striking Iran and was concerned Trump would set in motion a full-scale conflict.”
In fact, one Twitter account posted a helpful timeline of events that included a screenshot of the indictment and the original New Yorker article that claimed, “July 15, 2021: @NewYorker published article about plan to strike Iran during Trump’s presidency. July 21, 2021: President Trump waives copies of @NewYorker article around on tape during meeting in NJ. June 8, 2023: Jack Smith indicts President Trump over @NewYorker article.”

Not one to remain silent when his name is being dragged through the mud, Trump took to Truth Social to respond to the released audio and wrote, “The Deranged Special Prosecutor, Jack Smith, working in conjunction with the DOJ & FBI, illegally leaked and ‘spun’ a tape and transcript of me which is actually an exoneration, rather than what they would have you believe. This continuing Witch Hunt is another ELECTION INTERFERENCE Scam. They are cheaters and thugs!”
Also speaking out in favor of the president and against corruption in the Justice Department was syndicated radio host Mark Levin who pinpointed the likely origin of the leaks and argued they were grounds to dismiss the case.
“There must have been several scores of leaks against Trump involving testimony, documents, audio, etc., and they’re all obviously coming from the government. Trump’s lawyers need to file an immediate motion, with the long list of leaks as an exhibit, asking that the entire case be dismissed because of prosecutorial misconduct and the government’s effort to influence the jury pool,” Levin stated. “Moreover, I would insist that the court determine whether DOJ has opened investigations into these felonies. THIS NEEDS TO HAPPEN NOW!”

Judge Cannon absolutely busted DOJ for convenient leaks to media in September. Now this? This is what we can expect from rogue DOJ—as they seek PROTECTIVE ORDERS on all evidence. https://t.co/dkJazl9ype
