Trump asks Musk to bring back stranded NASA astronauts ‘abandoned’ by Biden

While most media coverage of President Donald Trump’s second administration is focused on his robust deportation effort, he’s also working on other issues at the same time including rescuing astronauts the last president “abandoned.”

Teaming up with his Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) leader billionaire SpaceX owner Elon Musk, the pair are looking to use the company to rescue American astronauts who were effectively stranded in space. In a Truth Social post, he announced the effort to retrieve Butch Wilmore and Suni Williams who have spent the last 8 months adrift in the stars.

“I have just asked Elon Musk and [SpaceX] to ‘go get’ the 2 brave astronauts who have been virtually abandoned in space by the Biden Administration. They have been waiting for many months on Space Station. Elon will soon be on his way. Hopefully, all will be safe. Good luck Elon!!!” Trump wrote.

Musk readily accepted his mission as a space savior, even dropping a message on his own social media platform, X, slamming the Biden admin’s inaction.

The mission that resulted in Wilmore and Williams being sent to space was only supposed to be a week-long, but the pair have been there since June 2024 following capsule issues like helium leaks and thruster problems. This has made it too dangerous to attempt re-entry into the Earth’s atmosphere.

X users are excited knowing Trump is working hard to bring our astronauts home where they belong:
