Former President Donald J. Trump lashed out at the federal judge who has been tabbed to preside over the Biden Department of Justice’s case against him over January 6, stating that he can’t get a fair trial and calling for a change of venue.
Last week, Special Counsel Jack Smith leveled the most dangerous indictment yet against the 2024 GOP frontrunner, one that puts Trump at the mercy of Judge Tanya Chutkan, a Barack Obama appointee, who has been dubbed as the “toughest punisher” of J6 defendants, and in a courtroom where a jury will be seated that is going to be plucked from an area that overwhelmingly despises him.
On Sunday, Trump took to his Truth Social platform where he fired off a series of all-caps missives raging against Smith, the crime-ridden, filthy hellhole city where the federal government is headquartered, and Judge Chutkan whom he suggested is either incapable or unwilling to set her left-wing ideology and biases aside to allow him a fair trial.
“NO WAY I CAN GET A FAIR TRIAL, OR EVEN CLOSE TO A FAIR TRIAL, IN WASHINGTON, D.C. THERE ARE MANY REASONS FOR THIS, BUT JUST ONE IS THAT I AM CALLING FOR A FEDERAL TAKEOVER OF THIS FILTHY AND CRIME RIDDEN EMBARRASSMENT TO OUR NATION, WHERE MURDERS HAVE JUST SHATTERED THE ALL TIME RECORD, OTHER VIOLENT CRIMES HAVE NEVER NEEN WORSE, AND TOURISTS HAVE FLED. THE FEDERAL TAKEOVER IS VERY UNPOPULAR WITH POTENTIAL AREA JURORS, BUT NECESSARY FOR SAFETY, GREATNESS, & FOR ALL THE WORLD TO SEE!” Trump wrote in his first of three early Sunday posts.

In his second post, Trump again tore into his persecutor, a man who his enemies have already valorized.
“DERANGED JACK SMITH AND OUR HIGHLY PARTISAN, AND VERY CORRUPT, DEPARTMENT OF INJUSTICE, COULD HAVE BROUGHT THIS BIDIN “OPPONENT” CASE YEARS AGO, BUT CHOSE TO WAIT AND BRING IT RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE OF MY ELECTION CAMPAIGN. NO WAY!!! I HOPE YOU ARE WATCHING AMERICA. OUR COUNTRY IS BEING DESTROYED. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!” Trump raged.

In his third post, the embattled ex-POTUS said that he would be requesting a venue change out of a city where the deck has been heavily stacked against Republicans, especially regarding Trump, his associates and his supporters.
“THERE IS NO WAY I CAN GET A FAIR TRIAL WITH THE JUDGE “ASSIGNED” TO THE RIDICULOUS FREEDOM OF SPEECH/FAIR ELECTIONS CASE. EVERYBODY KNOWS THIS, AND SO DOES SHE! WE WILL BE IMMEDIATELY ASKING FOR RECUSAL OF THIS JUDGE ON VERY POWERFUL GROUNDS, AND LIKEWISE FOR VENUE CHANGE, OUT IF D.C.,” Trump wrote.

Also of the opinion that there is no way that Trump can get a fair trial in D.C. is Republican West Virginia Attorney General Patrick Morrisey who supports moving the trial to his state. He made his case on “Sunday Morning Futures” on Fox News.

“I would say that one of the fundamentals of due process in our criminal justice system is to be able to have a fair trial and a fair tribunal,” he told host Maria Bartiromo.
“And does anyone watching, does anyone in America believe that President Trump is going to get a fair shake out of Washington, D.C.?” Morrisey asked. “I think most people would say, whether you’re pro-Trump or anti-Trump, you’re not going to get that fair shake. So what I’m suggesting is that this should be moved to West Virginia.”
