President Donald Trump had just one word to say following the United States’s loss in the World Baseball Classic.
America lost the title game to Venezuela 3-2 on Tuesday, giving the country its very first win. This prompted the president to fly to Truth Social with a simple message that has prompted much speculation.

“STATEHOOD!!! President DJT,” he wrote.
This had been previously mentioned in a post from Monday, where he commented on Venezuela’s victory over Italy in the semifinals.

“Wow! Venezuela defeated Italy tonight, 4-2, in the WBC (Baseball!) Semifinal. They are looking really great. Good things are happening to Venezuela lately! I wonder what this magic is all about? STATEHOOD, #51, ANYONE?” Trump asked.
Previously, only the United States, Japan, and the Dominican Republic had held the title of WBC champions, but Venezuela’s outstanding pitching game helped secure their history-making victory.
“Eduardo Rodriguez, the soon-to-be 33-year-old Venezuelan left-hander, had thrown to a 5.02 ERA over the past two seasons with the Arizona Diamondbacks, but you wouldn’t think so the way he was living on the corners and keeping Team USA off balance throughout his 4.1-inning start,” Fox News reported. “Rodriguez let up just a single to Brice Turang, while notching four strikeouts, including two on Team USA captain Aaron Judge. He probably wanted to go longer, considering how much of a rhythm he was in, but manager Omar Lopez pulled Rodriguez after 57 pitches. He received a standing ovation from the Venezuela faithful as he made his way to the dugout, where the bullpen had to take over. ”
Team USA had a brief taste of victory in the 8th inning, when Bryce Harper tied the game with a two-hit home run. As the team went wild in the dugout, they had no idea the upset that was awaiting them in the 9th inning.
“But Venezuela didn’t skip a beat in the top of the ninth inning, as Garrett Whitlock, who had been great in a high-leverage role earlier in the tournament, didn’t look like his usual self. He issued a walk to start the inning, and after Venezuela’s pinch runner, Javier Sanoja, stole second base, Eugenio Suarez smashed a changeup to left-center field for a go-ahead double to retake the lead,” Fox wrote.
