Former President Donald J. Trump unloaded on several of his competitors for the 2024 Republican nomination who attended an event put on by the team that brought America four more years of Barack Obama.
Failed GOP presidential candidate Sen. Mitt Romney (R-UT) and former Speaker of the House Paul Ryan, his running mate on the doomed 2012 ticket that gagged away a winnable election, hosted the event in Park City, Utah where high-rolling donors gathered to settle on an alternative to Trump.
Among those attending the political meat market were former VP Mike Pence, former governors Chris Christie and Nikki Haley, and sitting North Dakota Governor Doug Burgum along with Trump antagonists like former Attorney General Bill Barr along with corporate big shots including Bank of America CEO Brian Moynihan, and Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff.
In a Saturday video posted to Truth Social, Trump hammered Ryan and Romney and his competitors whom he didn’t name, accusing them of undermining the greater objective of defeating President Joe Biden and his extreme agenda.

“I understand candidates that are losing by 57 to 70 points are getting together with RINO Paul Ryan, Mitt ‘the loser’ Romney, Bill no guts or no talent Barr, and some broken political investors that will soon come to me, as most others already have,” Trump began.
“These failed candidates should have started by campaigning effectively, which they didn’t because they really don’t have the skill or the talent to do so. Romney, who today couldn’t get elected dogcatcher in the great state of Utah, should have beaten an absolutely failed first term Obama. Should have beaten him very easily. If he and RINO Paul [Ryan] fought as hard against Obama as they do against President Donald J. Trump, they would never have lost. They would have beaten Obama,” he continued.
“But remember, Republicans eat their young. They really do. They eat their young. Terrible statement, but it’s true. And that’s the problem with so many in our party. They just don’t have the loyalty and the strength to stick together,” Trump said. “They go after people who are on their side rather than the radical left Democrats that are destroying our country. These people are losers, and the Republican nation must stop following their failed ideas and policies”
“They only help the worst president in the history of the United States. The most corrupt president. The most incompetent president. Crooked Joe Biden. We don’t want to help him. We have to get him out of office. The Republican Party should unify and they should unify fast. We need Joe Biden out of there. He’s destroying America,” the former president concluded.
Former Romney campaign finance chair Spencer Zwick is quoted by the Washington Post as saying that the attendees of this year’s E2 Summit are “sincerely looking for an alternative to Donald Trump” who “want to get excited about getting behind someone that they believe would be a thoughtful, serious candidate for president.”
“To pretend like Donald Trump isn’t looming over the presidential primary would be would be foolish — they understand that. But this group is not just going to sit back and say, ‘Okay, well, let’s just accept that Donald Trump’s going to be the nominee,’” Zwick added. “If people in this room, and at this gathering, start to really get behind one or two of these candidates. You’re going to see some real movement in the polls. … At some point, and hopefully, in the not too distant future, we can start to coalesce around a smaller group of candidates.”
