Trump blasts ‘unwatchable RINO Steve Doocy’: ‘He fell into the proverbial ‘Trump’ trap’

Squabbling over semantics, the former president accused a “RINO” Fox News host of falling into the “proverbial ‘Trump’ trap” after getting fact-checked.

Simply setting the record straight wasn’t enough for former President Donald Trump who once again lashed out at Fox News. Despite airtime that included a town hall running counter to the latest GOP primary debate he opted out of attending, he took aim at “Fox & Friends” co-host Steve Doocy after a claim on the New Hampshire primary seemed to prove misleading.

“Unwatchable RINO Steve Doocy of Fox & Friends, which is suffering mightily from a lack of interest and Ratings Decline, with Steve being the principal factor, has just blurted out that I was wrong on the fact that Democrats can vote in the New Hampshire Republican Primary,” said Trump on Truth Social.

“He was so anxious to go against me, that he fell into the proverbial ‘Trump’ trap, just like all others do,” the president continued. “In actuality, Democrats can vote, they had to register by October 6, but they can come in as Independents, and then can be Democrats, and nobody’s going to know, so already we have 3,542 Democrats changed to Undeclared, 408 to Republican (all of whom will be voting), and others will come in as Liberals or Independents.”

“Their rationale is that they are desperate to stop ‘Trump,’ because they don’t want to run against me, they want to run against Nikki or Ron or anyone else,” added Trump. “If an Independent is a Democrat, they can vote. That’s what they want to do, fill up the Roster with Democrats!”

During Friday’s broadcast of “Fox & Friends” Doocy had called out remarks from the president that were not as clear as the social media post.

“Donald Trump said that New Hampshire law allows for Democrats to vote in the Republican primary. That is not true. You’ve got to be a registered Republican unless you’re undeclared. The last day for a Democrat to change party affiliation was back in October; October 6th. So, that is not accurate,” he said while joined on the curvy couch by Lawrence Jones, Ainsley Earhardt, and Brian Kilmeade.

The clarification from Doocy had been in response to repeated claims by the GOP candidate in the Granite State and on their network suggesting otherwise.

Appearing on “Hannity” the evening prior, Trump said, “Independents and Democrats are allowed to vote, so in order to try and stop Trump, they go out and they sign up and they can sign up very easily.”

Prior to that, during a campaign speech in New Hampshire, the president had said, “As you know, Nikki Haley in particular is counting on the Democrats and liberals to infiltrate your Republican primary. You know that, that’s what’s happening. You have a group of people coming in that are not Republicans.”

New Hampshire Secretary of State David Scanlan (R) had also clarified the state’s rules in a statement to CNN, saying, “Registered Democrats cannot vote in the Republican primary, and registered Republicans cannot vote in the Democratic primary…We’ve been pretty clear about the process.”

Trump’s ongoing disfavor for Doocy was featured in additional commentary on Truth Social.

“…So Steve, I know you don’t think people cheat in Elections, but they do! Nevertheless, I have an idea on how we can solve the problem with Steve,” wrote Trump, “Exchange the Weekend Hosts with the Weekday Hosts, and everybody will be happy – except keep Lawrence, who is constantly defending me as he reports back to studio – ‘I know what you’re saying, but it’s not what I see in the field, all I see are Red Hats and Trump people!!!’ Anyway, it’s [New Hampshire Gov.] Chris Sununu’s fault. He could have changed this, but was too lazy to do so!”
