Team USA’s Olympic hockey win over Canada not only earned the men a call from President Donald Trump, but also drew a savage social media message from the White House to former Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.
The ex-Canadian PM was reminded of his gloating post last year after the U.S. was defeated at the Four Nations Face-Off tournament, as Trudeau shared, “You can’t take our country — and you can’t take our game.”
The White House took the celebratory moment of the US team defeating Canada 2-1 and taking the Winter Olympics gold medal at the Milan Cortina Games on Sunday, posting a social media message that was more than clear.

The image of a bald eagle standing triumphantly over a Canadian goose served as an epic troll of Trudeau after Jack Hughes scored the winning goal in overtime, ending the US gold medal drought in men’s hockey.
“The U.S. claimed its first gold medal in men’s ice hockey exactly 46 years to the day after the ‘Miracle on Ice’ victory over the Soviet Union at the 1980 Lake Placid Olympics,” CBS Sports reported. “After Team USA and Canada played to a 1-1 tie through regulation, the bitter rivals went to overtime. That’s where Hughes, who had multiple teeth knocked out in the third period, became a national hero.”

“We took your game,” former NFL star Robert Griffin III wrote in a post on X, where he also took a shot at Trudeau.

“This is all about our country right now. I love the USA,” Hughes expressed during an interview after scoring the golden goal. “I’m so proud to be American today. I love my country, I love my teammates. That’s American hockey right there. That’s a great Canadian team, but this means so much. We are such a team.”
“The USA brotherhood in this team is so strong, so much support from ex-players. I cannot believe this. It could have gone either way tonight,” he added.
Trudeau’s boasting post from 2025 was resurrected by plenty of other X users as well, as they celebrated the US win and reacted to the White House trolling.
Brutal response.
Love.

We may not have taken your country (yet), but we definitely took your game.
