Former President Donald Trump blasted Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) over the cold shoulder he extended to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu during his visit last week.
While many Democrats boycotted Netanyahu’s address before a joint session of Congress, Schumer did attend but he was seen on camera refusing to extend his hand to the prime minister afterward.
Trump commented on Schumer’s behavior this week during a rally in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, after noting that Vice President Kamala Harris was among those who boycotted Netanyahu’s speech, saying the majority leader had essentially become a “proud member of Hamas.”
“A week ago, the prime minister of our closest Middle Eastern ally, Israel, came to address Congress — you saw that. Instead of sending a clear signal that the United States will never abandon an ally, a very important one, Kamala chose to politicize the moment, to grandstand, making a show of refusing to attend,” the Republican nominee said.
“You know where she was? She went to a sorority party,” he continued. “Can you believe it? Even though it was her duty as President of the Senate to be there. It was her duty to be there.”

After saying her “Democrat allies fell in line,” Trump turned his attention to Schumer.
“Chuck Schumer refused to shake the Israeli prime minister’s hand. Chuck Schumer has become a Palestinian,” he said. “Yes, he has. Can you believe it? He’s become a proud member of Hamas. Nancy Pelosi likewise denounced the speech in shameful terms.”
Schumer was asked about the refusal to shake hands Sunday during an appearance on CBS News’ Face the Nation.
“Well, look, you know, I went to this speech, because the relationship between Israel and America is ironclad, and I wanted to show that. But, at the same time, as everyone knows, I have serious disagreements with the way Benjamin Netanyahu has conducted these policies,” the Democrat replied.
However, as might be expected from the slippery politician, there is video footage of Schumer shaking the prime minister’s hands in private.
Interestingly, athletes from some Arab and Muslim countries at the Paris Olympics have refused to shake hands with Israeli athletes. Here’s an example of that… and the karma that played out afterward:
Tajikistan’s Nurali Emomali refused to shake hands with Israeli Judoka Baruch Shmailov and shouted “Allahu Akbar” after beating him.
In the next round, he faced a judoka from Japan and then…this happened.
