Trump calls Omar ‘totally crooked’ after feds raid Somalia-born Dem’s home

President Donald J. Trump made his first public remarks after federal agents carried out a search at the Washington, D.C. home of Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) on Monday.

In the pre-dawn raid, federal agents wearing Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) jackets were seen at the property, with sources telling Fox News Digital that the search was related to a criminal fraud investigation into the Minnesota congresswoman’s immigration paperwork. The Justice Department is also involved in the matter.

The raid, which went down three weeks before the midterm elections, infuriated Democrats. When asked about it by a reporter at the White House as he was departing for a rally in Ohio, Trump ripped Omar, a frequent target.

“Well, I understand they’re looking at her very carefully,” Trump said. “I’ve always found her to be totally crooked personally, but that has nothing to do with me.”

“I think she’s a terrible person, but that’s really up to the DOJ,” he added, denying any involvement. “I have nothing to do with it.”

The Somalia-born “Squad” member has become as well known for her myriad ethical issues as her anti-American rhetoric since being elected to Congress, not the least of which are allegations that she is in the country illegally and that she married her own brother.

“Today in the Washington, D.C. area, Homeland Security Investigations executed a judicially authorized search warrant secured by the Department of Justice,” a Justice Department spokesperson said on Monday. “This enforcement action is part of an ongoing federal criminal investigation.”

The investigation’s target was defiant and wasted little time in portraying herself as the victim.

“For ten years, Trump has targeted me with baseless lies and smear campaigns. This is just the latest escalation in his campaign of political intimidation,” Omar wrote in a post to X. “I will not be silenced.”

Omar’s fellow “Hamas caucus” member, Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-Mich.), denounced that raid by invoking the Democrats’ second favorite F-word.

“DHS raiding a member of Congress’s home is exactly what a fascist police state does,” the bomb-throwing Muslim lawmaker wrote on X. “This president should not be able to weaponize the federal government against political enemies. I stand with Ilhan.”

“This raid by Trump’s DHS is an outrageous abuse of power and an unprecedented escalation in the weaponization of federal law enforcement to target political enemies. For a decade, Donald Trump has relentlessly targeted Congresswoman Ilhan Omar with inflammatory rhetoric, repeatedly putting a target on her back,” Omar’s office said in a statement.

“Now, those attacks have escalated to a pointless federal raid. The Congresswoman has done nothing wrong. No president should be able to use the power of the federal government to intimidate his political enemies,” read the statement, which was shared by Omar on X.

Trump has frequently ripped Omar and her “filthy dirty” East African homeland, branding her as “scum” and suggesting that she should be deported.
