Timing and talent combined Monday as the GOP leader scored two major victories sure to spark excitement heading into the Republican National Convention. While commenting on the news that Judge Aileen Cannon had dismissed his documents case, Trump revealed that he would be announcing his Vice Presidential candidate after keeping the secret all the way to Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

“I am thrilled that a judge had the courage and wisdom to do this,” Fox News anchor Bret Baier quoted the president as saying after a phone call with the presumptive candidate. “This has big, big implications, not just for this case, but for other cases. The special counsel worked with everyone to try to take me down. This is a big, big deal. It only makes this convention more positive. This will be an amazing week.”

As had been reported, a 93-page ruling from Cannon asserted that the appointment of Special Counsel Jack Smith had violated the Constitution and she wrote, “The Superseding Indictment is DISMISSED because Special Counsel Smith’s appointment violates the Appointments Clause of the United States Constitution.”

On Truth Social, Trump expanded on his reaction and stated, “As we move forward in Uniting our Nation after the horrific events on Saturday, this dismissal of the Lawless Indictment in Florida should be just the first step, followed quickly by the dismissal of ALL the Witch Hunts — The January 6th Hoax in Washington, D.C., the Manhattan D.A.’s Zombie Case, the New York A.G. Scam, Fake Claims about a woman I never met (a decades old photo in a line with her husband does not count), and the Georgia ‘Perfect’ Phone Call charges.”

“The Democrat Justice Department coordinated ALL of these Political Attacks, which are an Election Interference conspiracy against Joe Biden’s Political Opponent, ME,” added the GOP leader. “Let us come together to END all Weaponization of our Justice System, and Make America Great Again!”

Additionally, Trump confirmed to Baier that his running mate would not only be decided today but would be announced as considerable attention was turned to a heavy security presence outside the home of Ohio Sen. J.D. Vance.

Fox News anchor Martha MacCallum noted on X, “Sen JD Vance departs home in Motorcade reports Forbes,” and as others sounded off on the increased likelihood, Utah Sen. Mike Lee shared a video from the outlet with the comment, “JD Vance leaving his home in a motorcade…That doesn’t’ happen every day…I suspect that tells us something,” before the post was deleted.

Lee went on to write, “I have colleagues who have full-time security details. He’s not one of them. I suppose I should say ‘until now he hasn’t been one of them.'”

While it remained to be seen what Trump’s official announcement would be, Baier did add that the president had teased, “Bret, there’s other surprises to come.”
