Trump details standing order on how US is to react amid talk of Iranian threats to kill him

Intelligence about a plot by the Iranian regime to assassinate President Donald J. Trump has sparked fears as well as a strong warning from the target that should serve as a powerful deterrent.

The Wall Street Journal reported that Israel had shared intel with U.S. officials that the Islamic Republic, which is growing increasingly desperate, has a new plan to take out the president.

Reporting on the alleged plot comes amid the end of the fragile ceasefire with the sides exchanging strikes over the last several days and Trump telling a reporter in Turkey, where he was attending the NATO summit, that he believes Iran wants to kill him.

“I’m No. 1 on the kill list for Iran,” the president said, adding “I’m their No. 1 target because they’re scum.”

If the reporting is correct and the Iranian regime pulls the trigger, it could prove to be the biggest mistake ever because Trump has his own plan in the event of his assassination.

“I’ve been on their list for a long time. That’s what we’re dealing with,” Trump told the New York Post on Friday. “… The only thing is, I’ve left instructions — if anything happens, to just literally bomb them at levels that they’ve never seen before.”

In a Friday post to Truth Social, Trump threatened the Iranians that if anything happens to him, hellfire will rain down from the skies.

“1000 Missiles are Locked and Loaded and aimed at the Islamic Republic of Iran, with thousands of more to immediately follow, should the Iranian Government act on its threat, pronounced in many corners of the Globe, to assassinate, or attempt to assassinate, the sitting President of the United States of America, in this case, ME!” Trump wrote. “Orders have already been given, and the U.S. Military is ready, willing, and able, for a one year period of time, subject to extension, to completely decimate and destroy all areas of Iran.”

“PRAISE BE TO ALLAH!” Trump added.

Hatred for the U.S. leader is widely held by sycophants of the Islamic Republic, where signs calling for his death have been seen during the funeral for Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, who was taken out by a decapitation strike in the early hours of the war.

The threats should be taken seriously and viewed as credible.

“You have to take a threat like that seriously, and they did,” former Biden administration Pentagon deputy press secretary Sabrina Singh said, according to The Hill. “We have a good relationship with Israel when it comes to the sharing of intelligence, so it’s a good thing this was shared with the U.S.”

“A nation -state like Iran is a whole different order of magnitude and is much harder to defend against,” said Atlantic Council senior fellow Tom Warrick.

“The resources are much greater. The possibility of them sending either a drone or a ballistic missile, or even an Iranian fighter jet to try to shoot down Air Force One needed to be taken very, very seriously,” added Warrick, who served at the Department of Homeland Security as a deputy assistant secretary for counterterrorism policy.
