Trump expresses ‘great simmering anger,’ requests documents be immediately returned

Former President Donald Trump expressed his “great simmering anger” over last week’s FBI raid on his Florida home, demanding the return of seized documents.

The former president attacked the FBI and the Department of Justice in remarks on his social media platform on Sunday, contending that boxes of “privileged attorney-client material,” and “executive privileged material,” were taken from his Mar-a-Lago estate in Palm Beach, Florida.

“Oh great! It has just been learned that the FBI, in its now famous raid of Mar-a-Lago, took boxes of privileged ‘attorney-client’ material, and also ‘executive’ privileged material, which they knowingly should not have taken,” Trump said on Truth Social.

“By copy of this TRUTH, I respectfully request that these documents be immediately returned to the location from which they were taken. Thank you!” he added.

Days after the unprecedented raid on a former U.S. president’s home, and amid a groundswell of criticism of the Biden administration’s Justice Department, the search warrant and property receipt were formally unsealed.

“Sources familiar with the investigation told Fox News Saturday that the former president’s team was informed that boxes labeled A-14, A-26, A-43, A-13, A-33, and a set of documents—all seen on the final page of the FBI’s property receipt —contained information covered by attorney-client privilege,” Fox News reported.

“Sources told Fox News that, due to attorney-client privilege, Trump’s team asked the Justice Department for their position on whether they would support a third party, independent special master to review those records, but sources told Fox News that the DOJ notified Trump’s team that they would oppose that request,” the network revealed in a Saturday report.

After Trump’s initial posting on Sunday demanding the return of documents, he took to Truth Social again to note how at a recent gathering, all anyone could discuss was “the complete and total stranglehold that the Radical Left Democrats have over the DOJ & FBI.”

“It shouldn’t be that way. Nobody goes after BLM, ANTIFA, or the rest,” he continued, railing against the “very unfair double standard.”

“They definitely won’t attack the home of a former Democrat President, nor should they,” Trump wrote.“It is all so out of control, great simmering anger!”

The former president also condemned “this sneak attack on democracy” in another Truth Social post.

“America has never suffered this kind of ABUSE in Law Enforcement! For the FBI to RAID the home of 45 President of the United States, or any President for that matter is totally unheard of and unthinkable,” Trump posted Sunday.

Calling out the “break in” for being done for “political, not legal reasons,” he said the nation is “angry, hurt, and greatly embarrassed by it.”

As Trump rained down criticism of federal law enforcement, House Republicans vowed they would fight the “brazen politicization” of the DOJ.

“House Republicans are committed to immediate oversight, accountability, and a fulsome investigation to provide needed transparency and answers to the American people regarding Joe Biden and his administration’s weaponization of the Department of Justice and FBI against Joe Biden’s political opponent,” House Chair Elise Stefanik (R-NY) vowed last week.

“And as the American people know, unfortunately, this is the same agency leadership that protected Hillary Clinton, James Comey, and continues to protect Hunter Biden. The same agency leadership that perpetrated the false Russia hoax for years,” Stefanik added.

“A House Republican majority will leave no stone unturned when it comes to transparency and accountability into the brazen politicization of Joe Biden’s DOJ and FBI targeting their political opponents,” she said.
