Trump faces revocation of his license to carry a gun

Former President Donald J. Trump will have his license to carry a gun in New York revoked now that he’s been convicted of a felony, opening the door to more Democrat lawfare.

On Wednesday, CNN reported that the NYPD is preparing to revoke the presumptive GOP nominee’s concealed carry permit, citing an anonymous “police official” who told the outlet that the department’s legal bureau is conducting an investigation.

The official said that the former president’s concealed carry license “was quietly suspended on April 1, 2023,” after he was indicted on trumped-up charges by Soros-backed DA Alvin Bragg with two of the three handguns that Trump was licensed for being turned over to the NYPD on March 31, 2023.

A third pistol that was listed on the license “was lawfully moved to Florida,” the source told CNN. It is a federal crime for a convicted felon to have a firearm.

“After Trump was convicted of 34 felonies on May 30, 2024, he could be in violation of multiple state and federal laws if he still possesses that third gun in Florida. CNN has reached out to representatives of Trump to determine whether he still has a gun in Florida,” according to CNN.

The anonymous police official told CNN that the legal bureau will wrap up the investigation “that will likely lead to revocation of his license,” and that Trump could ask for a hearing to challenge the revocation.

What could be problematic for Trump, given the determination of Democrats to use the legal system as their own personal weapon, is the gun in Florida. It isn’t clear whether the firearm is still in his possession.

Among the laws restricting firearm possession by convicted felons is the Gun Control Act of 1968.

“Biden’s cronies in the Democrat Party are panicked and have chosen to continue to abuse our once great justice system to pursue their number one political opponent and interfere in the coming election,” Trump campaign spokesman Steven Cheung said in a statement.

Last year, leftists had a fit when Trump was seen admiring a custom “Trump 45” Glock at the Palmetto State Armory in Summerville, SC during a campaign stop.

It was first inaccurately said that the former POTUS had purchased the gun which would have been against the law since he was at the time, under a felony indictment.

The erroneous report triggered his enemies who called for lawfare and Cheung who had erroneously posted that Trump had bought the Glock on social media, walked it back.

“President Trump did not purchase or take possession of the firearm. He simply indicated that he wanted one,” Cheung later clarified to Fox News Digital.

Like all former presidents, Trump has the protection of the Secret Service.

Trump’s conviction on the 34 felony counts comes with an asterisk given the venue, the blatantly biased judge, and the jury pulled from an area that overwhelmingly despises him. He could have the unjust conviction reversed on appeal and get his Second Amendment rights back.
