President Donald Trump didn’t hold back after his White House renovations were likened to the Cheesecake Factory.
Former President Barack Obama joked during a Cleveland, Ohio, campaign stop that the current president has the White House “looking like Saddam Hussein opened a Cheesecake Factory, it’s just gold everywhere.”
“He seems very focused on home renovations. He should be on HGTV,” the ex-POTUS snarked.
Trump addressed the comments to a crowd in Corinth, Mississippi, on Monday.

“And now they say, ‘Oh, woah, Barack Obama is going to start campaigning,’ and he’s not even campaigning. Tell him he’s not campaigning about me, maybe he’ll go home,” Trump said. “But he came in yesterday, and he made a speech. And part of his speech was to say ‘isn’t it terrible that Donald Trump spends a lot of his time-‘ Very little time, I do it very good. I’m really good at real estate and fixing things. I fix things very good, very beautifully.”
“I always build beautiful and inexpensive, which is a good combination if you can do it. But I can do it naturally, it’s a natural thing. It actually relaxes me,” he added, before launching into an imitation of Obama. “‘Donald Trump spends a lot of his time fixing up the White House.’ Isn’t that a nice thing to do? He said, ‘This isn’t a Cheesecake Factory.’ Can you believe it? Which is a very successful company. He doesn’t like successful companies, but you know he was very critical about me because I spent time, and if you would have seen the White House. I took over the White House, and it was in horrible condition.”
He went on to claim that there was “plaster falling off the exterior,” the “paint was no good,” and “a lot of the ornamentation” around some of the windows “was up on one side and was off or half fallen off on the other.”
“The White House is now in better shape than it was in 1792,” he noted.
He also attacked Obama’s record as president, calling him “not a smart guy” and saying “only a stupid person would run the country” the way he did.
“We have to explain to Obama that the White House is a symbol of America, and it has to be maintained properly. It has to be painted, and the exterior plaster can’t be falling off the walls, and the decorations and the ornaments on the windows that are magnificent can’t be on one side of the window and falling off on the other side,” Trump said. “It’s not about money. It’s about seeing. Guys like Obama don’t see it. He doesn’t see dirt, he doesn’t see filth, he doesn’t see broken ornaments on a building. For you to say it was a Cheesecake Factory, that just shows why you were a lousy president.”
