Trump goes off on NYT report suggesting top general is wary of attacking Iran

Rising tensions in the Middle East and alleged tension with General Daniel “Razin” Caine found the president sounding off on the “Fake News Media” with a slight on sources.

Though not earning the coverage of anti-ICE activists clashing with federal officers or the tragic disappearance of a television anchor’s elderly mother, protests against the brutal Islamist regime have continued in Iran. Amid ongoing negotiations with the U.S. regarding Iran’s nuclear efforts, the potential for regime toppling strikes found President Donald Trump refuting corporate media claims of discord between himself and the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.

“Numerous stories from the Fake News Media have been circulating stating that General Daniel Caine, sometimes referred to as Razin, is against us going to War with Iran. The story does not attribute this vast wealth of knowledge to anyone, and is 100% incorrect,” asserted the commander-in-chief on Truth Social.

Pointing to the previous strike that crippled Iran’s nuclear facilities, the president wrote, “General Caine, like all of us, would like not to see War but, if a decision is made on going against Iran at a Military level, it is his opinion that it will be something easily won. He knows Iran well in that he was in charge of Midnight Hammer, the attack on the Iranian Nuclear Development. It is a Development no long, but rather, was blown to smithereens by our Great B-2 Bombers.”

A report from the New York Times addressed upcoming talks in Geneva and options for military strikes with potential targets including Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, its nuclear sites, and its ballistic missile program. “Should those steps fail to convince Tehran to meet his demands, Mr. Trump told advisers, he would leave open the possibility of a military assault later this year intended to help topple Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, the supreme leader.”

“There are doubts even inside the administration about whether that goal can be accomplished with airstrikes alone,” added the Times as Wall Street Journal reporter Alex Ward posted to X, “The Pentagon is raising concerns to President Trump about an extended military campaign against Iran, advising that war plans being considered carry risks including U.S. and allied casualties, depleted air defenses and an overtaxed force.”

As Axios reported similarly, Ward cited “current and former officials” as he wrote that “The warnings have largely been voiced by Gen. Dan Caine … but other Pentagon leaders also have noted similar worries.”

For his part, the president further complemented the chairman, stating, “Razin Caine is a Great Fighter, and represents the Most Powerful Military anywhere in the World. He has not spoken of not doing Iran, or even the fake limited strikes that I have been reading about, he only knows one thing, how to WIN and, if he is told to do so, he will be leading the pack.”

“Everything that has been written about a potential War with Iran has been incorrectly, and purposefully so,” added Trump. “I am the one that makes the decision. I would rather have a Deal than not but, if we don’t make a Deal, it will be a very bad day for that Country and, very sadly, its people, because they are great and wonderful, and something like this should never have happened to them.”
