Trump hammers ‘sloppy and tired’ Bill Maher over obsession with him

Former President Donald J. Trump lashed out at “sloppy and tired” Bill Maher over the comic’s obsession with him and the Trump-hating guests he hosted on his popular HBO show.

On Friday’s edition of Real Time With Bill Maher,” the old-school liberal was joined by New York Times columnist Bret Stephens and MSNBC host Stephanie Ruhle for an episode that was predictably saturated with criticism of Trump, including the distortion of his recent remarks at the Israeli-American Council summit in Washington, D.C. last week to suggest that he would blame Jews for an election loss.

In a scorching Saturday post to Truth Social, the GOP nominee unloaded on the 68-year-old host as well as the “Trump hating loser” Stephens and the “dumb as a rock bimbo” Ruhle along with “degenerate” editors at the New York Times.

“The ratings challenged Bill Maher, on his increasingly boring show on HBO, is really having a hard time coping with TRUMP DERANGEMENT SYNDROME. He is a befuddled mess, sloppy and tired, and every conversation, with B and C list guests, seems to start with, or revert back to, ME!” Trump began.

“This week he had “dumb as a rock” bimbo Stephanie Ruhle, from MSDNC, on the show, along with a Trump hating loser, Bret Stephens, who seemed totally confused and unsure of himself, very much like Maher himself,” he continued. “Steven’s should find himself another line of work because I am driving the FAILING New York Times absolutely crazy, and it is very hard, perhaps impossible, for a writer to write well of me without suffering the wrath of the degenerate editors who, with a push from the top, have gone insane.”

“They apologized to their readers in 2016 for their complete and total MISS, and they’ll do it again in November. The FAILING New York Times is a badly run ‘newspaper’ that has totally lost its way. Put it to sleep!” Trump concluded.

Ironically, Maher engaged in an extremely rare defense of Trump during the opening monologue portion of Friday’s show, scolding audience members who cheered the second failed assassination attempt on the former president last Sunday at his golf course in South Florida.

MAHER: “So let’s not bury the lede. The big story this week, they tried to shoot Trump again, let’s not…” he said as the audience laughed approvingly.

“Not funny,” he said as even louder laughter broke out.

“Okay. I’m being serious now. It’s the second time this happened,” Maher said, chastising the live audience. “I said this before, there can be no fuzz on this. This is not funny. Okay? It’s not okay. It’s not okay to wish it happened.”

The rabidly anti-Trump crowd laughed some more.

“Well, this is a problem with people… well, I mean look, this happens too frequently. I’m sorry, this happened on the golf course. A guy was laying in wait and — it happens too much. In fact, besides the shooter, there were two other shooters beside him waiting to play through,” he said, turning the awkward moment into a joke. “This has got to stop.”

The comic has earned praise from conservatives over his willingness to criticize the “woke” and anti-Semitic elements of his party, but with the election rapidly approaching, the muzzle is on and it’s back to nothing but muh Trump because the blue team winning is of far greater importance than anything else.
