A potential move from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy had the commander-in-chief warning: “…if he does that, he’s got some problems. Big, big problems.”
Tenuous talks negotiating peace between Russia and Ukraine weren’t being tolerated by President Donald Trump as the globalist darling of the Donbas was said to be, once again, seeking a new arrangement where rare earth minerals were concerned. In response, Trump was quick to offer a reality check to Zelenskyy that his hopes of NATO membership were little more than a dream.
Speaking with the press aboard Air Force One on Sunday, the president expressed, “Zelenskyy, by the way, I see he’s trying to back out of the rare earth deal. And if he does that he’s got some problems. Big, big problems.”
“We made a deal on rare earth, and now he’s saying, ‘Well, you know, I wanna renegotiate the deal.’ He wants to be a member of NATO. Well, he was never gonna be a member of NATO. He understands that,” added Trump. “So, if he’s looking to renegotiate the deal, he’s got big problems.”

In February, the Ukrainian leader made waves and stoked the ire of the administration when he sought leverage for a new arrangement on a previously agreed upon deal that he’d already failed to sign twice. After Zelenskyy’s conduct in the Oval Office found him chastised by Trump and Vice President J.D. Vance before he was ejected from the White House, pulled military aid and demands for an apology saw the wardrobe-challenged official fold “like a cheap suit” in seeking to make amends.
Trump had previously emphasized the importance of the mineral deal to recoup the hundreds of billions of dollars in U.S. taxpayer money that the Biden administration and Congress had gleefully forked over. Meanwhile, Zelenskyy, who refused to take the necessary steps to allow an election to take place when his term was set to expire, maintained his aspirations to see his country become part of a European coalition.
Russian President Vladimir Putin didn’t skirt by without getting called out by Trump for his own behavior regarding ceasefire negotiations, as the president told reporters he was disappointed about the expressed opinion that Zelenskyy is not credible.
“You’re supposed to be making a deal with him, whether you like him or don’t like him. So, I wasn’t happy with that,” said Trump as he stated there was a “psychological deadline” for Putin to agree to a ceasefire amid warnings of secondary tariffs.
Still, the president maintained of Putin, “I don’t think he’s going to go back on his word. I’ve known him for a long time. We’ve always gotten along well, despite the Russia, Russia, Russia hoax created by [former Secretary of State Hillary] Clinton and [then-California Rep. Adam] Schiff and all of these lunatics.”
“And that really was a dangerous point,” added Trump. “That was a very dangerous thing they did to this country. It was a pure, unadulterated scam — hoax.”
