Trump has most Trump-like reaction to Hunter Biden skipping congressional deposition

Former President Donald Trump joined the pile-on of Hunter Biden after he opted to hold a press conference rather than sit for a congressional deposition.

Trump took a shot at President Joe Biden’s son during a speech in Iowa, reacting to the day’s earlier news when Hunter Biden skipped his closed-door deposition before the House Oversight Committee to deliver a rant from outside the Capitol.

“Did you see Hunter today, right?” Trump said to gathered supporters in Coralville Wednesday.

“He went to the wrong place. He went to the Senate instead of the House,” the former president joked.

“Everyone’s saying, ‘Where’s Hunter?’ See, it always gets, ‘Where’s Hunter?'” Trump continued, adding, “What a two-tier system of justice we have.”

Trump repeated his question on social media.

Hunter Biden defied the congressional subpoena and refused to meet with lawmakers in the scheduled closed-door deposition, opting instead to whine about his treatment in a statement outside of the Senate side of the Capitol. He admitted he had made “mistakes” in his life and went on to rip Republicans for investigating him and “‘turning my dad’s love into darkness,”

“I am here today to acknowledge I have made mistakes in my life. I’m also here today to correct how the MAGA right has portrayed me for political purposes,” he said on the steps of the US Capitol, also asserting that his father was never “financially involved” in his business dealings.

Immediately following his comments, there were calls to hold the president’s son in contempt of Congress.

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene accused the younger Biden of playing “circus” outside of the Capitol and that he “spread all of his lies” in his statement.

“President Trump’s own children sat for hours and hours…in front of Democrat-led committees,” the Georgia Republican said, speaking with reporters Wednesday. “Why is it a double standard for the Biden family?”

The former president’s son Eric Trump spoke about the double standard with Fox News host Jesse Watters on Wednesday.

“I probably am the most subpoenaed person in this country,” he said.

“At the ripe age of 39 years old, I’ve probably been subpoenaed more times than any other person in this country by these absolute animals,” he added, noting he has had none of the other issues like Hunter has, listing illicit drugs, prostitutes, and more.

The younger Trump contended that if he were to have delivered a speech instead of meeting with lawmakers, “I would’ve been in shackles before I left Washington D.C.”

“It’s a dual system of justice. It’s a joke,” he said.
