President Donald Trump is reportedly giving out his favorite kind of shoes to male staffers.
According to a report by the Wall Street Journal, Trump has been doling out his favorite leather Oxfords, a $145 pair of Florsheim shoes, to lawmakers, staff, agency leaders, and other head honchos.
“The president has taken to guessing people’s shoe size in front of them. He asks an aide to put in an order and, a week later, a brown Florsheim box arrives at the White House. Trump sometimes signs the box or attaches a note of gratitude, according to people familiar with the ritual,” the outlet reported.
“The 79-year-old billionaire, known for expensive Brioni suits, long red ties, and a penchant for aesthetics, late last year began searching for something that would feel better after a day on the job and settled on Florsheim. Trump liked them so much he started dispensing them. He pays for the shoes, the White House said.”
“All of the boys have them,” the WSJ quoted a female staffer as saying.
“It’s hysterical because everybody’s afraid not to wear them,” another joked.
This isn’t the first time that the president’s love for the shoes has made headlines. In January, the New York Times reported that Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Vice President JD Vance received four pairs of shoes each.
“He struck a father figure tone to aides and advisers in the room, referring to several of them — including Vice President JD Vance, 41, and Secretary of State Marco Rubio, 54 — in passing as ‘kids.’ Both men were wearing shoes he had gifted them,” the outlet wrote.
Trump reportedly told both men that they “have s**tty shoes” during a Cabinet meeting in December, gifting them pairs, according to the Journal.
“Vance lifted his leg in the air to show the president the pair he was wearing,” they claimed.
