Trump jabs Biden over autopens as he signs nuclear power orders

President Donald Trump couldn’t help but rib his predecessor over the use of an autopen during an important executive order signing.

Former President Joe Biden isn’t going to live down using an autopen to manage his presidential duties as long as Trump is around. While signing several executive orders expanding the use of uranium mining by the United States, Trump took a shot at Biden.

Watch:

“I’m just saying, as you say that, I signed it – what about auto-pens? Can I use an auto-pen? What did Biden do? Did he have an auto-pen at the desk?” the president joked before slamming Biden for not holding “events” like the signings he has been doing since he was inaugurated in January.

“He didn’t do events like this, I guess. You walk it to the other side of the room and have an auto-pen sign it,” Trump added.

According to a White House fact sheet, the orders effectively reduce nuclear dependence on foreign nations and “decrease regulatory barriers” to support the domestic nuclear power capabilities of the United States.

“President Trump is committed to reestablishing the United States as a global leader in nuclear energy, which will create tens of thousands of high-paying jobs and generate American-led prosperity and resilience,” the sheet reads.

“Since 1978, only two new nuclear reactors have begun construction and entered into commercial operation. Meanwhile, in just a single day, President Trump is signing twice as many Executive Orders to start a nuclear renaissance in the United States,” the statement points out.
