President Donald J. Trump mocked the congressional Democratic leadership team hours before their determination to sabotage his reform agenda led to the shutdown of the federal government.
On Tuesday night, the president shared images on Truth Social showing a pair of red “Trump 2028” baseball caps that he offered to Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) and House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) at a key Monday meeting.
In one picture, the hats are seen sitting on the Resolute Desk with a very amused Trump, tauntingly pointing his finger at the duo with no caption necessary.

Another shows a ballcap strategically displayed in front of Schumer who has his hands hoisted in the air as he runs his line of B.S. down on Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-SD) and House Majority Leader Mike Johnson (R-LA) who both did their part to keep the government funded but were foiled by the Democrats who have been planning to shut it down for months and then blame it on Trump to appease the deranged leftists who now call the shots.

A third image shows both Democrats with Jeffries gesturing toward his House counterpart, with one of the hats prominently sitting on the desk.

The hats were first reported by Punchbowl News. “Funny detail from inside Oval Office meeting: Trump tried to give Schumer & Jeffries ‘Trump 2028’ hats. They did not take them.”
“Jeffries then turned to JD Vance & asked him how he feels about that. Vance replied, ‘No comment.’ Room erupted in laughter,” reporter Andrew Desiderio wrote in a Tuesday post to X.
The meeting with the two top Democrats was just another stunt with the party leaders sticking to their bad faith demands in exchange for their cooperation, and at 12:01 a.m. on Wednesday, the “Schumer Shutdown” officially went into effect.

“The Trump administration wants a straightforward and clean CR [continuing resolution] to continue funding the government – the exact same proposal that Democrats supported just 6 months ago, 13 times under the Biden Administration,” said White House spokeswoman Abigail Jackson.
“But radical Democrats are shutting the government down because they want a nearly $1.5 trillion wish list of demands, including free health care for illegal aliens. The Democrats’ radical agenda was rejected by the American people less than a year ago at the ballot box; now they’re shutting down the government and hold the American people hostage over it,” she told Fox News Digital.
The “Trump 2028” hat pictures were a wicked bit of trolling from Trump, who had already infuriated Democrats and their stooges in the media with a hilarious AI-created video showing a mustachioed Jeffries wearing a sombrero and an animated Schumer explaining that the party has to bribe the illegals for their support because everyone else hates them because of their “woke trans bullsh*t” as mariachi music plays in the background.
LMAO! Trump is trolling Schumer and Jeffries for wanting to give healthcare to illegals w/ a video of Jeffries dressed as a Mexican

The irreverent video drew howls of outrage from Democrats, especially from Jeffries, who complained that it was “racist” in remarks to the media.
“Mr. President, the next time you have something to say about me, don’t cop out through a racist and fake AI video,” the House minority leader told reporters, whining about perceived racism because his feelings were hurt. “When I’m back in the Oval Office, say it to my face.”
Trump then further bedeviled the humorless House leader by posting another AI video of his whining, this one with the president as the mariachi band.
LMFAO! After Hakeem Jeffries melted down on MSNBC over Trump’s meme dressing him up as a Mexican, 47 doubled down and posted ANOTHER one, with Trump appearing in the background as a mariachi band

When asked about the hats during a Tuesday night CNN appearance with host Abby Phillip, Jeffries gave his version of what happened.
“When he tried to hand you that ‘Trump 2028’ hat, what was your reaction?” Phillip asked.
“Well, actually, he did not try to hand Leader Schumer and I the Trump 2028 hat,” Jeffries responded. “They just randomly appeared in the middle of the meeting on the desk. It was the strangest thing ever.”
