Trump reaction to Kimmel Oscars bomb opens door for ‘washed up, but cheap, ABC ‘talent”

After his monologue was panned for “trying too hard,” Jimmy Kimmel reached even further with a real-time reaction to the former president.

Sour self-deprecation only stood to further show the disconnect of Hollywood elitists to regular Americans at the 96th Academy Awards on Sunday. Between lamenting over guild strikes in 2023 and complaining about the length of films as Kimmel droned on for nearly a quarter of an hour, potshots at nominees became fodder for former President Donald Trump.

As a result, the GOP leader also revealed that he “lives rent-free in Jimmy Kimmel’s head,” when the host followed Emma Stone’s winning Best Actress for her role in “Poor Things” by reading the president’s social media critique live on stage.

“You know, this, this, doing this show is not about me. And I appreciate you having me. It’s really about you and, Emma and all these great actors and actresses and filmmakers,” he said before explaining, “But, I was told we have, like, an extra minute. And, I’m really proud of something and I was wondering if I could share it with you. I just got a review, and umm…”

Pulling a phone from his pocket, Kimmel began to read without telling the audience that it was a Truth Social post from Trump, “Has there EVER been a WORSE HOST than Jimmy Kimmel at The Oscars. His opening was that of a less than average person trying too hard to be something which he is not, and never can be. Get rid of Kimmel and perhaps replace him with another washed up, but cheap, ABC ‘talent,’ George Slopanopoulos. He would make everybody on stage look bigger, stronger, and more glamorous.”

Where the president wrote, “Also a really bad politically correct show tonight, and for years — Disjointed, boring, and very unfair. Why don’t they just give the Oscars to those that deserve them. Maybe that way their audience and TV ratings will come back from the depths,” Kimmel said, “Blah, blah, blah,” before concluding, “MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!”

“Okay, now see if you can guess which former president just posted that on Truth Social. Anyone? No?” Kimmel asked to a mixed response before getting cheers for a dig, “Well, thank you, President Trump. Thank you for watching. I’m surprised you’re still w- — isn’t it past your jail time?”

The moment was neither the only political snipe of the evening nor the only awkward one as a couple of other references to Stone’s film had the actress appearing to say “Pr*ck” from the audience.

“Those were all the parts of ‘Poor Things’ that we’re allowed to show on TV,” the host had said before the camera flashed to her less-than-pleased reaction.

Additionally, Kimmel had jabbed at Alabama Sen. Katie Britt’s Republican response to President Joe Biden’s State of the Union and said, “Emma played an adult woman with the brain of a child, like the lady who gave the rebuttal to the State of the Union on Thursday night.”

Cringier still was a roast of Robert Downey Jr., who would go on to win Best Supporting Actor for his role in “Oppenheimer,” as during the monologue the host singled him out.

“This is the highest point of Robert Downey Jr.’s long and illustrious career, well one of the highest points. But Robert has been — was that too on the nose or a drug motion you made?” asked Kimmel as Downey pointed at his own face.

Razzing the star proceeded to prompt Downey to signal the host to move on after Kimmel tried, “But look at him, he’s so handsome, so talented, he’s won every award there is to win. Is that an acceptance speech in your pocket or do you just have a very rectangular penis?”

Another outdated reference included marking 50 years since a streaker appeared on stage with John Cena stepping out naked beside Kimmel, as social media slammed the host as hard as Trump for “meeting lower lows.”
