A new poll that showed the vice president edging out former President Donald Trump prompted a slam from the campaign over the “Fake News Media” for putting “a finger on the scale…”
According to a CBS News/YouGov survey conducted with 3,102 registered voters from July 30-Aug. 2, Vice President Kamala Harris held a scant lead over the GOP leader within the 2-point margin of error of 50-49 percent. However, the Trump team was quick to decry those findings as they accused the pollsters of over-sampling leftists to tip the balance in the Democrat’s favor.
“The Fake News Media continue to help dangerously liberal Kamala hide her record of economic failure and soft on crime policies,” said Trump campaign senior adviser Brian Hughes in a statement reported by Newsweek. “Now, as this analysis shows they’ll even put a finger on the scale of polling to inflate results for her.”
“This analysis is why the American people are seeing through it and will not allow this national gaslighting campaign to win,” he continued. “Despite this manipulated result, from CBS/YouGov it’s worth noting that in July and August of 2020, their data showed Biden leading by 10 nationally, reflecting a net positive movement of almost +10 to President Trump this election cycle.”
The results depicted a positive gain of 2 points for the vice president in comparison to their last poll that had been conducted prior to President Joe Biden ending his own campaign. It also showed Harris and Trump deadlocked in battleground states while admitting, “The survey included an oversample of black respondents.”

The results showed 81% of black voters favored Harris to 18% for Trump, compared to 73% supporting Biden in July.
Looking even closer at the data showed other advantages for Trump beyond the “gaslighting” he highlighted, “Record performance for a Republican, ME, with Hispanics!” based on the YouGov data showed him earning 44%, within 7 points of Harris compared to massive double-digit advantages for past Democratic presidential candidates.
Additionally, Fox News host Laura Ingraham pointed out public opinion on how voters felt they would fair financially depending on who would win on Nov. 5 with 45% of respondents certain they would be better under Trump’s policies compared to only 25% under Harris.
Were the vice president to secure her own administration, 44% of survey participants believed they would be financially worse off.
“This is how Trump wins,” said Ingraham. “If you vote for him, you’ll have more money in your pocket. If Harris wins, you’re going to be poorer. Period!”

Furthermore, with Harris’ positions viewed as even further to the left of the incumbent, after the honeymoon period in which corporate media avoided delving beyond talking points, voters are likely to recognize that changing the ticket leader wouldn’t improve the state of the union in which 68% of respondents believed the nation was performing “somewhat” or “very badly.”
Likewise, 66% said the economy was “fairly bad” or “very bad” currently and 41% of respondents said the main reason they would pick Harris was to oppose Donald Trump. While 34% claimed to like her and 24% voted blue no matter who ran on the ticket.
Reactions to the polling data reflected the Trump campaign’s take as some even suggested that Harris’ peak had been reached.
This is her ceiling. The reality of who and what she is will be exposed. Down is the only direction she will go from here.
