Former President Donald J. Trump punched back at Senator Mitt Romney (R-UT) in epic fashion, responding to the failed GOP presidential candidate’s smears by dragging him on a trip down memory lane.
On the eve of the release of a fawning new book on Romney’s political career and time in Washington, D.C., Trump took to Truth Social after the sanctimonious senator trashed him during an interview on “CBS Sunday Morning” with Norah O’Donnell.
During his Sunday morning appearance, Romney maligned his one-time political ally as representing a ‘failure of character’ who is changing the ‘heart of our nation.’
“Donald Trump represents a failure of character, which is changing…in many respects, the psyche of our nation and the heart of our nation. And that’s something which takes a long time if ever, to repair.”

On Monday afternoon, in a sledgehammer of a one-two punch, the 2024 Republican frontrunner unloaded on Pierre Delecto as only he can.
“Mitt Romney, a total loser that only a mother could love, just wrote a book which is, much like him, boring, horrible, and totally predictable. I am very proud to be the one who forced this Left Leaning RINO out of politics. He wanted to run sooo badly, but knew he couldn’t win in the great State of Utah without my Endorsement and Support, so he QUIT,” Trump wrote.

“His crummy book says nothing good about anybody, other than RINO Paul RINO, who may be worse, and even dumber, than Mitt himself. Does he mention his late night dinner with me at Trump International Hotel when he begged to be Secretary of State, then giving GLOWING COMMENTS about DJT at a follow up News Conference?” Trump added. “I didn’t give him the job, NOR DID I EVER INTEND TO. I JUST WANTED TO PROVE A POINT, THAT MITT ROMNEY IS, & ALWAYS HAS BEEN, A LIGHTWEIGHT JOKE!”
Trump then used the holier-than-thou Romney’s own words to boil him in a stew of his own hypocrisy, posting a video clip of Mitt’s gracious update to reporters on his meeting with the president-elect from back in 2016.

In another Truth Social post, Trump quoted Romney’s kind words from the AP video.
“Mitt ‘The Loser’ Romney: ‘I had a wonderful evening with President Trump. We had another discussion about affairs throughout the World, and these discussions I’ve had with him have been enlightening, and interesting, and engaging. I’ve enjoyed them very, very much. I was also very impressed by the Remarks he made on his Victory Night,'” praise for Trump, directly from the horse’s mouth.
“By the way, it’s not easy to win. I know that myself. He did something I tried to do, and was unsuccessful in accomplishing—He won the General Election, and he continues with a message of inclusion and bringing people together, and his vision is something which obviously connected with the American People in a very powerful way. In the last few weeks, he’s been carrying out a transition effort, and I have to tell you, I’ve been impressed by what I’ve seen in the transition effort. All of those things combined give me increasing hope that President Trump is the very man who can lead us to that brighter future,” Romney said in the blast from the past.

Mitt has certainly changed his tune since 2016.
The “crummy” book, “Romney: A Reckoning” by McKay Coppins of The Atlantic hits bookshelves on Tuesday.
