President Donald Trump praised the “heroes” involved in the raid to capture former Venezuelan leader Nicolas Maduro, noting that one in particular would be honored with a special award.
Speaking with reporters after visiting troops at Fort Bragg in North Carolina, the president indicated that one of the members of the military who participated in the Operation Absolute Resolve mission to capture Maduro will be awarded the Medal of Honor.
“We had a great visit at Fort Bragg. We saw a lot of heroes,” he said. “We’re going to be giving one particular person the Congressional Medal of Honor for what just took place in Venezuela.”

“These are great warriors. These are great patriots,” Trump added.
During his remarks to the troops, the commander-in-chief revealed that U.S. helicopter pilots were wounded “pretty bad in the legs,” during the operation. The pilots had landed on a “couple of machine gunners,” he explained, adding, “but they were taken out rapidly by our snipers who were stationed on platforms.”
“That night, the entire world saw what the full military might (of) the U.S. military is capable” of, Trump said. “It was so precise, so incredible.”
The military base, which is home to the XVIII Airborne Corps and the Army’s Special Operations Command, welcomed the president, who arrived with first lady Melania Trump.

“With your help,” he said, “America is winning again, America is respected again, and perhaps most importantly, we are feared by the enemies all over the globe.”
“As long as I’m president, we will be the best led, the best trained, the best equipped, the most disciplined and the most elite fighting force the world has ever seen,” he said.
In a light-hearted moment, Trump entertained the crowd with his signature dance moves.
