President Donald Trump claimed his voice was hoarse during a Fox Business interview because of negotiations with the Iranian leadership.
The president revealed the cause of his strained voice as he spoke with Fox Business Network host Maria Bartiromo on Wednesday’s airing of “Mornings With Maria.”
“Have you been negotiating a lot all day? I mean, is that why your voice is hoarse?” Bartiromo asked the president in a clip from the program.
“I’ve been screaming at Iranians all day, yes. A little bit of a laryngitis because of my scream. I’ve been screaming at the Iranians,” Trump revealed.
“So the Iran leadership, you’re screaming at?” the Fox Business host tried to clarify.
“You know why? You know why? Because that’s the only thing they understand,” Trump replied. “They don’t understand being nice. They understand the way I have to do business. I treat all people differently.”
Back in November, the president was asked about his raspy voice during a White House meeting.
“I feel great. I was shouting at people because they were stupid about something having to do with trade and a country, and I straightened it out, but I blew my stack at these people,” Trump said to laughter during the meeting of the task force on the FIFA World Cup 2026.

“A country wanted to try and renegotiate the terms of their trade deal,” Trump said when asked which country he was referring to. “And I wasn’t happy about it.”
“Why would I say that to you?” he replied when a reporter pressed him.
