The George Clooney image rehab tour is officially underway but President Donald J. Trump isn’t buying the spin about the leftist actor who some have blamed for Democrats losing the 2024 election.
In an interview that was featured on Sunday’s edition of “60 Minutes,” the Hollywood A-lister promoted his new Broadway show and tried to explain away his political meddling that provided the impetus for Democrats to steal the nomination from disgraced ex-President Joe Biden and award it to Kamala Harris, who would go on to be clobbered by Trump in an electoral wipeout.
While Clooney’s sit-down with the CBS flagship may convince some people that he never covered up for Biden’s senility until it was no longer possible to do so, Trump wasn’t one of them and took the “Ocean’s Eleven” star to the woodshed with a blistering flogging after the interview aired.

“Why would the now highly discredited 60 Minutes be doing a total ‘puff piece’ on George Clooney, a second rate movie ‘star,’ and failed political pundit. He fought hard for Sleepy Joe’s election and then, right after the Debate, dumped him like a dog. Later, I assume under orders from the Obama camp, pushed all out for ‘Kamala,’ only to soon realize that that was not going to work out to well,” the president wrote in a Sunday night post to Truth Social.
“60 Minutes even fraudulently inserted Fake answers into her disastrous interview, aired just before Election Day, in one of the most embarrassing and dishonest events in broadcast history…And now George Clooney again? His press agent should be making a fortune!!!” Trump added.
Many pointed to Clooney’s July 10, 2024, New York Times op-ed in which the “lifelong Democrat” urged Biden to drop out of the race to save democracy after the catastrophic CNN debate as being pivotal for the Nancy Pelosi-Barack Obama-led coup to pull the plug on their own presumptive nominee.
After the NYT column was published, Trump trolled Biden by posting a clip of him being fired by Clooney. It would prove to be prophetic because less than two weeks later, Joe gave up the ghost.

One of the questions from “60 Minutes” put the 63-year-old Tinseltown activist on the spot about his influential op-ed that greased the rails for Biden’s ouster and was asked whether he’d do it again if he knew that Trump would go on to club Kamala.
“Yeah, I’ll make it kinda easy,” Clooney answered. “I was raised to tell the truth.”
The actor said that he was unaware of Biden’s advanced state of mental deterioration until he personally saw him at a June 2024 fundraising event that turned out the Hollywood high rollers to stuff the then-presumptive nominee’s reelection campaign coffers with cash.
“I was surprised,” he said, adding, “I feel as if there was a lot of profiles and cowardice in my party through all of that, and I was not proud of that and also I believed I had to tell the truth.”
“I’ve always liked Joe Biden and I like him still,” Clooney said, even though his fingerprints were all over the dagger that was buried in Biden’s back.
Trump is currently suing CBS for $20 billion over a deceptively edited pre-election interview with Harris that was cleaned up to make her answers more coherent.
