Donald Trump took to his social media platform Truth Social to take one last shot at his chief Republican primary rival as voters in Iowa went to work on Monday, taking advantage of the endorsements of Sens. Marco Rubio (R-FL) and Rick Scott (R-FL).
Rubbing salt in an open wound, the former president wrote, “Thank you to Senators Marco Rubio and Rick Scott of Florida for the great Endorsements. Nice when both highly respected Republican Florida Senators ENDORSE TRUMP over the missing from Florida Republican Governor, Ron DeSanctimonious! They know something that others don’t.”
Incidentally, the endorsements reinforce the idea that DeSantis is not willing to go along to get along with the DC establishment class.
After being declared the winner in Iowa, Trump spoke about unity.
“I really think this is time now for everybody, our country, to come together,” Trump said. “We want to come together, whether it’s Republican or Democrat, or liberal or conservative. It would be so nice if we could come together and straighten out the world, and straighten out the problems, and straighten out all of the death and destruction that we’re witnessing that’s practically never been like this. It’s just so important.”

“And I want to make that a very big part of our message. We’re going to come together. It’s going to happen soon, too. It’s going to happen soon,” he continued.
Sen. Scott endorsed Trump’s presidential bid back in November, writing in a Newsweek op-ed that “America was safer and more prosperous when he led our nation.”
DeSantis succeeded Scott as governor of Florida and there was a lot of bad blood between the outgoing administration, consisting of largely political insiders, and the incoming administration.
Rubio’s surprising endorsement came on Sunday.
“When Trump was in WH I achieved major policies I had worked on for years (like expanded Child Tax Credit & tough sanctions on regime in Cuba & Venezuela) because we had a President who didn’t cave to special interests or let bureaucrats block us,” Rubio said in a tweet. “I support Trump because that kind of leadership is the ONLY way we will get the extraordinary actions needed to fix the disaster Biden has created. It’s time to get on with the work of beating Biden & saving America!”
Some may ask what “work” has Rubio put in of late to save America — the Cuban-American politician known for his flowing oratory skills has seemingly not been the same after the vicious 2016 Republican primary when Trump dubbed him “Little Marco” during heated clashes.
