Trump says MTG has ‘lost her way’ – she fires back

Georgia Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene’s (R) supposed “revenge tour” reached the Oval Office on Monday and led to her clapping back at the president on whether she “lost her way.”

In recent days, the congresswoman’s media blitz, which included appearances on CNN and ABC’s “The View,” has been perceived as an appeal across the aisle for a potential White House bid of her own. While Greene has knocked down such suggestions as “baseless,” she has made her way into 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue in a different fashion as a topic du jour.

Sharing President Donald Trump’s response to her question earlier in the day, CNN Chief White House Correspondent Kaitlan Collins captioned a post Monday afternoon by reporting, “After President Trump told me in the Oval that she had ‘lost her way,’ Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene responds, telling us in a statement provided by her team: ‘I haven’t lost my way. I’m 100% America first and only!'”

Earlier, she’d asked Trump, “With the Syrian president earlier today, Marjorie Taylor Greene, who is a big ally of yours, said that she would rather see you focus on non-stop domestic policy meetings here at the White House instead of non-stop foreign policy meetings. What’s your response to her saying that and also saying that grocery prices are up and not down, as you’ve said?”

“Yeah, so, I don’t know what happened to Marjorie. She’s a nice woman, but I don’t know what happened. She lost her way, I think,” began the response from the chief executive. “But, I have to view the presidency as a worldwide situation, not locally. I mean, we could have a world that’s on fire, where wars come to our shores very easily if you had a bad president. We had a horrible president, and we ended up with Russia-Ukraine, and we ended up with other disasters too.”

“Don’t forget, I put out eight wars — nine to come. I think I’ll get the other one taken care of, but I put out eight wars. And look at the damage that Russia-Ukraine has done to us as a country. I mean, we spent $350 billion,” he added before reiterating his position that the war wouldn’t have started were he in office and that NATO is now taking greater responsibility.

“And if I weren’t president, that war could have led to World War III. It won’t. It’s not going to anymore. But when I first got in, I said, ‘Wow, this situation could lead to World War III.’ And I got NATO together. I got everybody together. But with all of that, I passed a great, big, beautiful bill, which is the biggest tax cuts in history for our country,” reminded Trump. “So when somebody like Marjorie Taylor Greene, who’s now catering to the other side — I don’t know what, you know, I guess she’s got some kind of an act going — but I’m surprised at her. But when somebody like Marjorie goes over and starts making statements like that, it shows she doesn’t know.”

As Greene sought to gain traction on her “America only” position, recent remarks from the congresswoman included praise for California Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D), including her “incredible career for her party” and “ability to get things done,” contrasted with her expressed frustration for House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA), whom she insisted she “yelled at … on the phone of our GOP conference call …”

Where it concerned suggestions she was on a “revenge tour,” an idea attributed to New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D), the Georgia lawmaker dismissed her fellow congresswoman as “really jealous that I came into her home state, stomped around, and actually had a great conversation with the ladies on ‘The View.'”

“I don’t respect her very much,” Greene later added in the NewsNation interview. “She’s never accomplished anything in life other than being a member of Congress, so I don’t really know what she has to offer other than gossip, but people are tired of that.”
