Trump says ‘no choice’ but to send troops to Portland: ‘It is run like a Third World Country’

President Donald Trump addressed the violent protests in Portland and said he had “no choice” but to deploy the National Guard to the Democrat-run city in Oregon.

The president called out Oregon Gov. Tina Kotek in a social media post, saying the Democrat must be living in a “dream world” over her response to Trump’s calls for law and order as protests continue outside the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement facility in Portland.

“The Governor of Oregon must be living in a ‘Dream World,’” Trump wrote on Truth Social on Wednesday.

“Portland is a NEVER-ENDING DISASTER. Many people have been badly hurt, and even killed. It is run like a Third World Country,” the president added.

“We’re only going in because, as American Patriots, WE HAVE NO CHOICE. LAW AND ORDER MUST PREVAIL IN OUR CITIES, AND EVERYWHERE ELSE!”

Kotek has called the deployment of troops “an abuse of power and a disservice to our communities and our service members.” The Democrat declared on X that “we don’t need military intervention here.”

The city of Portland and the state of Oregon filed a joint lawsuit on Sunday against the president, War Secretary Pete Hegseth, and Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem.

“Defendants’ heavyhanded deployment of troops threatens to escalate tensions and stokes new unrest, meaning more of the Plaintiffs’ law enforcement resources will be spent responding to the predictable consequences of Defendants’ action,” the lawsuit reportedly stated.

The governor addressed Trump’s plan to deploy troops during a press conference on Monday.

“We are maintaining the ability for people to exercise their free speech rights, but also protecting the folks on the ground there,” Kotek said. “As I have told the president, this situation is not an insurrection; it does not require military intervention.”

Trump blasted the “lawless mayhem” in the Beaver State in another post.

“Our GREAT Federal Law Enforcement Officers have not been able to enforce the Laws in Oregon. ANTIFA and the Radical Left Anarchists have been viciously attacking our Federal Law Enforcement Officers, men and women who are simply doing their job, protecting Federal Property, and enforcing Federal Immigration Laws and the Rule of Law,” he wrote.

“We will never allow MOBS to take over our streets, burn our Cities, or destroy America,” he added.  “The National Guard is now in place, and has been dedicated to restoring LAW AND ORDER, and ending the Chaos, Death, and Destruction! We are a Nation of LAW, and we will PREVAIL.”

Despite the Democrats and media mouthpieces insisting that protests have been peaceful, arrests have been made with many protesters facing federal charges for assaulting federal officers, and one person is accused of throwing an incendiary device.
