Trump stands bloodied, but defiant as shots ring out at rally – 2 dead, including shooter

Former President Donald J. Trump has survived an assassination attempt, being nicked by a shooter’s bullet that, if he had not moved his head, would have likely killed him on live television.

On Saturday, the presumptive 2024 Republican nominee was speaking to a crowd of supporters at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, when shots rang out, one of them grazing Trump, who was rushed off stage by Secret Service agents and taken to a hospital.

But before he was taken away, a bloodied but unbowed Trump thrust his fist in the air, an iconic image of these troubled times and one that will almost certainly bolster his support less than four months before the pivotal election.

“During Former President Trump’s campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, on the evening of July 13 at approximately 6:15 p.m., a suspected shooter fired multiple shots toward the stage from an elevated position outside of the rally venue. U.S. Secret Service personnel neutralized the shooter, who is now deceased. U.S. Secret Service quickly responded with protective measures and Former President Trump is safe. One spectator was killed, and two spectators were critically injured. This incident is currently under investigation. and the Secret Service has notified the FBI,” the Secret Service said in a statement.

Two people are now dead, one of whom was a spectator attending the rally who was struck by gunfire, and the other the alleged attempted assassin who has been identified as 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks of Bethel Park, PA.

Considering the irresponsible and hateful rhetoric of Democrats and their media minions, critics suggested that it was only a matter of time until someone took a shot at Trump and that day has now come.

At the forefront of those stoking the rage against Trump has been President Joe Biden who on July 8 said, “We’re done talking about the debate, it’s time to put Trump in a bullseye.”

“The Democrats and the media are to blame for every drop of blood spilled today,” Rep. Marjorie Taylor-Greene (R-GA) wrote on X following the assassination attempt. “For years and years, they’ve demonized him and his supporters.”

“God protected President Trump,” said Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL), a possible running mate who shared the iconic image of the bloodied Trump on X.

The image, one that will come to define Trump in the history books, was also shared by others on the platform, including former Navy SEAL Robert J. O’Neil, the man who is credited with killing terrorist fiend Osama bin Laden.

“I want to thank The United States Secret Service, and all of Law Enforcement, for their rapid response on the shooting that just took place in Butler, Pennsylvania. Most importantly, I want to extend my condolences to the family of the person at the Rally who was killed, and also to the family of another person that was badly injured. It is incredible that such an act can take place in our Country. Nothing is known at this time about the shooter, who is now dead,” Trump said in a statement.

“I was shot with a bullet that pierced the upper part of my right ear. I knew immediately that something was wrong in that I heard a whizzing sound, shots, and immediately felt the bullet ripping through the skin. Much bleeding took place, so I realized then what was happening. GOD BLESS AMERICA!” Trump said, describing the terrifying moment that nearly ended his life.

The assassination attempt comes days before Trump will be formally nominated at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee, WI.
