Persistent rumors that GOP frontrunner Donald J. Trump could choose a certain former South Carolina governor to be his 2024 running mate may have been put to rest as his campaign scorched Nikki Haley in a major blow to the media darling.
In a statement debuting the new nickname of “Nikki New Taxes” for the establishment’s pick to be the Republican nominee that could be far more effective than “Birdbrain” was, Team Trump took aim at her actual record during her time at the helm of the Palmetto State, particularly her regressive tax policies.
“KISS OF DEATH: Nikki New Taxes,” read the headline of a Friday statement from the Trump campaign.

“The truth is finally coming out about Nikki Haley’s troublesome record showing her total disdain for the working class and a willingness to sell out to lobbyist parasites,” the statement said. “She pushed for a WHOPPING 60% increase in the state gas tax in South Carolina after promising voters she would never do so. She also voted for an unconscionable 20% increase in the state sales tax, making her the enemy of the working-class and an ally of lobbyist cronies taking advantage of impressionable politicians looking for their approval.”
“Nikki Haley’s shameful record as governor has now been exposed, and voters are witnessing who she really is: a tax wielding politician who is more interested in doing the bidding of her puppetmasters instead of doing what’s right for the American people,” concluded the statement signed by Trump campaign spokesman Steven Cheung.
Trump’s training of his fire on the former underling comes at the media has been hustling some polls showing the former U.S. ambassador to the United Nations nipping at his heels in the key early voting state of New Hampshire, a primary that will do much to shape the narrative as the media ratchets up the propaganda that would allow for the swapping out of Haley as the frontrunner as pressure on the RNC will be intense to replace the former president amid a flurry of upcoming show trials.
The former president’s team had previously suggested that Haley is the puppet of the parasitical donor class after she was endorsed by the Koch-backed Americans for Prosperity Action group last month, a sign that she is as beloved by plutocrats as she is by the corrupt media.
.@NikkiHaley represents a new generation of conservative leaders who will solve the tough problems and lead our country forward.
Her positive vision for America is what we desperately need.

In an appeal to supporters, the campaign said, “a corrupt network of globalist RINO donors announced they’re going to spend TENS OF MILLIONS OF DOLLARS to prop up a puppet GOP candidate to try and defeat us in the primary,” the email says. “Voting begins in only 48 DAYS – and these RINO backstabbers are now going to launch a last-minute vicious assault against us in the early primary states.”
Also lighting up Haley over her taxing policies while governor was conservative commentator Steve Bannon.

“Nikki Haley is the representative of the neoliberal neocon oligarchs that run this nation. Full stop,” the former Trump White House adviser told viewers and listeners on Friday’s edition of his “War Room” podcast.
“Number one, in those taxes: what they don’t talk about those are regressive taxes that hurt people lower down the food chain. When I say lower down the food chain, I mean middle class and below and particularly lower middle class, the working class, those are regressive taxes, taxes on consumption.” Bannon said.
“She never talks about taxing the wealthy ever. She’s the donors’ Praetorian Guard,” he continued. “So she has a history of raising taxes on people and particularly these sales taxes which are horribly regressive,” he added, accusing her of “protecting the donor class.”
