President Donald Trump blasted Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker in a social media post, urging Democratic leaders to “Make Chicago Great Again.”
Trump took a shot at the “incompetent” governor as well as Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson in a Truth Social post Tuesday as he drew attention to the “deadly” weekend in the Windy City. Trump’s reality check came after a 12-day period without a single murder in the District of Columbia following the president’s federal takeover of law enforcement in the nation’s capital.
Pritzker and Johnson have been critical of Trump’s efforts and have been staunchly against the president’s offers to help with crime in Chicago.
“A really DEADLY weekend in Chicago. 6 DEAD, 27 HURT IN CRIME SPREES ALLOVER THE CITY,” Trump wrote.

“Panic stricken Governor Pritzker says that crime is under control, when in fact it is just the opposite. He is an incompetent Governor who should call me for HELP. Mayor Johnson is no better. Make Chicago Great Again!” he added.
Chicago Police Department data for the week ending August 24 showed there were nine murders, 128 robberies, and about 1,000 various theft incidents.
Trump also noted the drop in crime in Washington, D.C. since he ordered in National Guard troops and federalized local police.

“People in Chicago … are screaming for us to come. They’re wearing red hats,” Trump told reporters in the Oval Office last week. “So I think Chicago will be our next [stop] and then we’ll help with New York.”
Pritzker and Johnson have refused to accept any federal help and have also refused to acknowledge that there is even a problem.

Vice President JD Vance blasted the Democrat leaders who continue to refuse to address the crime in their cities and states.
“Look at Governor Pritzker in Illinois or Governor Newsom in Los Angeles or Governor Moore in Maryland,” he said in the Oval Office.

“They are angrier about the fact that the president of the United States is offering to help them get their crime under control than they are about the fact that murderers are running over their cities and have been for decades,” he said.
