Trump trolls Rosie O’Donnell with a goodbye kiss in the most ironic place possible

President Donald Trump called out Rosie O’Donnell for her decision to flee the U.S. for Ireland.

The president was meeting with Irish Taoiseach Micheál Martin in the White House when he commented on the former co-host of “The View” who has been tangled in a war of words with Trump for years.

The Irish Prime Minister was asked by a reporter on Wednesday about allowing O’Donnell to move to Ireland, but it was Trump who responded.

“Ireland is known for very happy, fun-loving people,” the reporter said.

“Why in the world would you let Rosie O’Donnell move to Ireland?” he asked Martin. “I think she is going to lower your happiness.”

“That’s true, I like that question. Do you know you have Rosie O’Donnell? Do you know who she is? You’re better off not knowing,” Trump quipped.

White House Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller noted that Trump had gotten the actress to “self-deport.”

“It wasn’t explicitly one of our campaign promises, but it is a major first-100-day achievement,” he joked to Fox News host Sean Hannity. “So you are welcome, America!”

O’Donnell escaped the incoming Trump administration in January, days before the president was inaugurated.

“Although I was someone who never thought I would move to another country, that’s what I decided would be the best for myself and my 12-year-old child,” she said about her move to Ireland.

“I miss my other kids,” she said, referring to her adult children. “I miss my friends. I miss many things about life there at home. And I’m trying to find a home here in this beautiful country. And when it is safe for all citizens to have equal rights there in America, that’s when we will consider coming back.”

“I am hoping that we can turn things around. I’m counting on you, all of you, to do what’s right. And I think deep down inside we all know what that is,” the actress added.

At another point in Wednesday’s meeting with the Irish Prime Minister, Trump suggested Ireland had taken advantage of the United States. The president was speaking on reports of the European Union announcing retaliatory economic tariffs against the U.S.

“The EU was set up in order to take advantage of the United States,” he said before a reporter asked if the same was true of Ireland.

“Of course they are. I have great respect for Ireland, for what they did and they should have done just what they did. But the United States shouldn’t have let that happen,” Trump replied, referring to the many U.S. pharmaceutical companies being located in Ireland.

“We had stupid leaders. We had leaders that didn’t have a clue or let’s say they weren’t businesspeople, but they didn’t have a clue what was happening and all of a sudden Ireland has our pharmaceutical companies,” Trump said.

“All of a sudden, Ireland has our pharmaceutical companies, this beautiful island of five million people has got the entire US pharmaceutical industry in its grasps,” Trump said.

‘I have property in Ireland, as you know, and I love it, it does great, but I’d like to see the United States not have been so stupid for so many years, not just with Ireland, with everybody,” the president noted.

Martin pushed back gently, reminding that a trade relationship is “a two-way street.”

“I understand where you’re coming from, fully,” Martin told Trump, “but I think it’s a relationship that we can develop and that will endure into the future.”
