Trump unloads on CNN’s Kaitlan Collins in Oval Office exchange

President Donald Trump ripped into CNN’s Kaitlan Collins while speaking with reporters in the Oval Office, calling out her “very corrupt” network and noting that the White House correspondent never smiles.

Trump remarked on the “hatred in her eyes” after Collins asked repeated questions about the anti-weaponization fund, with the president telling her to “be quiet” and that she should be “ashamed” of herself as a former conservative. Collins shared a clip of the exchange during “The Source,” prefacing the video with her”note” that the first exchange “actually occurred before I had yet to ask the president a question.”

The heated moments came as Trump was asked about dropping the nearly $1.8 billion fund that was to aid those who alleged they were targeted unfairly by the federal government.

“What happened to great people, great American people, the way they were victimized, the way they were savaged, you have suicides, they killed themselves. They were bankrupt,” he said.

“They were weaponized by the Biden administration, by a bunch of thugs, including Obama people. And like nobody’s probably ever been,” he continued, referring to those who were in Washington D.C. on January 6, 2021.

“But these people, their lives have been destroyed. Their families have been destroyed — many of them. I’m not just talking about a few people. Many have been destroyed, many of them. I’m not just talking about a few people. Many of them. I’m one of them,” the president said, noting how the information about the events would be coming out soon.

“What we have and what we are going to be showing over the coming weeks and months, you’re not even going to believe. Some of you will believe it, like CNN will believe it, because they knew what was going on. They’re crooked as hell. CNN’s a very corrupt organization, but with a corrupt reporter standing right there,” he added, pointing to Collins in the pool of reporters.

“Never smiles. You never-, she’s a young, beautiful woman. Never smiles. I never see a smile on her face; I see her standing there with hatred in her eyes. She has hatred because we have borders, because we have a strong military, because we cut our taxes, because we do things that everybody wanted. And then we win our election in a massive landslide,” Trump continued as Collins stood stone-faced.

The president added that “reporters should be happy” because “we’re saving our country.”

Later, Collins followed up with another question about the fund.

“Just to clarify on what you were asked earlier, is the $1.8 billion DOJ fund dead or is it on hold?” she asked, with Trump responding, “I’d have to ask the lawyers, I don’t know.”

As he further elaborated on the fund abuses of the media, Collins interjected, only to be shot down by Trump, telling her to “be quiet” and adding, “You should be ashamed of yourself. You — you used to be a conservative. She was a conservative from Alabama. Can you believe it?”

“I’m still from Alabama,” Collins quipped.

“CNN does such false reporting, but now they have new ownership, so maybe it’ll straighten it out. I doubt it, but it’s hard to straighten garbage out,” Trump said. “But CNN has abused, and others have abused so badly, people. These are people that are great.”
