Coverage of White House improvements earned a Fox News anchor a new nickname and hefty criticism as President Donald Trump declared, “Even Chris Wallace was better …”
Between regular call-ins dating back to before he formally entered politics and routine poaching of on-air talent for administration roles, the chief executive has long demonstrated an interest in the success of Fox News. Over the weekend, he raised doubts about the direction of “Fox News Sunday” after coverage of construction of the new White House East Wing landed anchor Shannon Bream a scathing rebuke and the nickname “Milktoast.”
Following an earlier post, the president took to Truth Social Sunday evening to point out, “During Shannon Bream’s show they showed pictures of the Military Complex/Ballroom site at the White House. Unfortunately, the pictures were months old, before much work had been started.”
“Now the hardest work is substantially complete, with work on the roof/DronePort to begin very shortly. Why didn’t Shannon Bream, ‘Milktoast’ to her friends, show the updated pictures instead of ones that were so old and irrelevant?” asked Trump as he asserted as aired footage was dated May 19, “Her show, Fox News Sunday, is so biased against MAGA, ‘TRUMP,’ and Republicans, that it is ridiculous!”
Before appearing to rope in Bret Baier and unnamed “others,” the president harkened back to biases of old as he recalled the previous “Fox News Sunday” host.
“Even Chris Wallace was better, and he was really bad (WHERE IS CHRIS WALLACE?). Also, she, Brett B, and others should stop showing Fake Polls — They’re just embarrassing themselves. It reminds me of the November 5, 2024 Presidential Election, just prior to winning IN A LANDSLIDE, including 7 out of 7 Swing States, the Popular Vote, 86% of the Counties, and the Electoral College, 312 to 226!” concluded Trump.
Earlier on Sunday afternoon, the president described watching Bream as “like watching the Worst of Fake News CNN.”
“I don’t know Shannon, but she always seems to pick guests, charts, and ‘polls’ that are negative, never talking about all of the incredible things that the Trump Administration has done …” he went on as he called her out for showcasing allegedly “hostile guests, and having losers” on such as Juan Williams and Jessica Tarlov. He further stated her “‘show’ is beyond redemption.”
During the latest installment of “Fox News Sunday,” Bream sat with Attorney General Todd Blanche and asked the nation’s top cop about the 2-1 vote from the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit that halted construction at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave., barring congressional approval amid ongoing litigation.
“We don’t believe we have to go to Congress,” reminded Blanche after being asked about taking that route. “We believe Congress has already given us the authority to do what we’re doing. Many presidents have done a tremendous amount of work to the White House, as they should, and Congress has authorized them to do so.”
