President Donald J. Trump said that he has not discussed the prosecution of Dr. Anthony S. Fauci with either of the nation’s top two federal law enforcement officials.
The longtime head of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) – whose influence drove the draconian COVID lockdowns, forced masking and jab mandates – was formally referred to the Justice Department for prosecution by Senate Republicans last week after he took the Fifth more than 100 times to avoid answering their questions.
On Monday in the Oval Office, Trump was asked by a reporter whether he has talked to new Attorney General Todd Blanche or embattled U.S. Attorney for Washington, D.C. Jeanine Pirro about the potential prosecution of Fauci.

“Mr. President, have you spoken with the new attorney general or Jeanine Pirro about Prosecuting Dr. Fauci?” Trump was asked.
“I have not spoken to them about that, no,” the president responded.
Blanche was officially sworn in on Monday at the White House following a razor-thin 50-49 Senate vote to confirm him on Saturday, which was only decided when feckless Sen. Bill Cassidy (R-La.) dropped his opposition to the president’s former defense attorney formally taking over at the Department of Justice.
One of his first orders of business will be whether to act after the Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs voted along party lines to hold the malignant elf in contempt of Congress over his refusal to testify about his role in the COVID response, one of the darkest periods in the nation’s history during which he became arguably the most powerful unelected figure ever, thanks largely to the complicit media which ceaselessly fed his monstrous ego.

Fauci refused to participate, invoking the Fifth Amendment in his opening statement despite his being rewarded with a sweeping preventive and retroactive pardon by disgraced former President Joe Biden on his way out the door in January 2025.
A DOJ spokesperson confirmed that the contempt referral has been received and was “reviewing it and will work with the Senate accordingly.”
Trump had previously suggested that Fauci should face prosecution, noting that his allies Peter Navarro and Steve Bannon were both prosecuted and jailed on contempt charges during the Biden regime.

“Well, you know they prosecuted Peter Navarro, and they prosecuted Steve Bannon, two very decent people, over something that essentially was never prosecuted before,” he told reporters when asked about Fauci last week.
“But Merrick Garland prosecuted two very decent people and sent them to jail,” Trump added. “I wasn’t president. I would have given them a pardon in two seconds, but this was after I left. They waited until after I left and then they prosecuted these two people, and they ought to be ashamed of themselves.”
“When you see that happen, you sort of say maybe he should,” he said. “What he did is far more serious than a lot of crimes, frankly.”
