Trump won’t take Bret Baier’s bait, insists he trusts Musk in big Super Bowl interview

Fox News anchor Bret Baier pressed President Donald Trump on his relationship with Elon Musk but failed to get a negative response.

The 45th and 47th president insisted he has had “great help” from the billionaire who is heading up his Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) as he spoke with Baier during a pre-Super Bowl interview on Sunday.

In a preview clip from the interview, Trump defended Musk and the work he has been doing uncovering fraud and waste in the federal government while not taking the bait when Baier pressed him about trusting the Tesla and SpaceX CEO.

“I don’t know if it’s kickbacks or what’s going on, but look, I ran on this, and the people want me to find it,” Trump said of the wasted funds at the Defense Department and other federal entities such as the now-shuttered US Agency for International Development (USAID).

“And I’ve had a great help with Elon Musk, who’s been terrific,” the president added.

“Bottom line, you say you trust him?” Baier asked.

“Trust Elon? He’s not gaining anything. In fact, I wonder how he can devote the time to it. He’s so into it,” the president replied.

Trump revealed that he has other projects that he will be directing Musk to look at.

“I’m going to tell him very soon, like maybe in 24 hours, to go check the Department of Education. He’s going to find the same thing. Then I’m going to go to the military. Let’s check the military. We’re going to find billions, hundreds of millions of dollars of fraud and abuse. And, you know, the people elected me on that,” he told Baier.

Social media users were in resounding agreement with the president and his confidence in Musk.
