Tucker Carlson explains what could entice him to run for president

Tucker Carlson explained what would make him consider a run for president in 2028, a chance to go mano a mano against Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) on the debate stage.

Carlson has been smeared as an antisemite for his outspoken criticism of Israel, including by the Texas Republican who branded him as the “most dangerous demagogue” in America this week.

During a conversation with journalist Piers Morgan on the latest edition of his “Piers Morgan Uncensored” podcast, Carlson discussed the Iran war as well as another war closer to home, the nasty factional fight for the soul of the MAGA movement.

The former Fox News host evidently would like nothing more than to hash out his differences with the trash-talking Texan with a good old-fashioned debate and told the host that would be a possible enticement for him to throw his hat into the political ring.

“As for Ted Cruz, he says he’s running against me for president,” Carlson told Morgan when asked about a possible 2028 run. “I almost want to run for president just to debate Ted Cruz, because I think it would go about the way it went last time, and for my part, I deeply enjoyed it, which is why I’ve never tweeted about it, because I just keep that little spark of joy inside me for rainy days, and I think about that conversation and smile.”

Carlson was referring to his brutal conversation with Cruz, who appeared on his popular “Tucker Carlson Show” podcast last year. He has been a frequent critic of the GOP Iran war hawk.

“I don’t know that I’d be good at it…,” he said when pressed by Morgan. “I think it’s very tough to be the president.”

“I’ve learned that by watching over many years, and because you are constrained in ways that you should not be constrained, but you are…,” Carlson continued. “However, if I got to run against Ted Cruz and debate him again on camera, I would run for Emperor of the Holy Roman Empire. I’d run for Pope. I’d run for head of the library board. I would run for anything for the opportunity to do that.”

It’s no secret that Cruz is fantasizing about himself sitting in the Oval Office and obviously sees whipping up on Carlson as a winning issue with much of the MAGA base.

“I believe Tucker Carlson is the single most dangerous demagogue in this country,” the senator said during remarks at an antisemitism symposium in Washington, D.C.

“I have seen more antisemitism in the last 18 months on the right than at any point in my lifetime,” Cruz added. “It is being spread by loud voices, the most consequential of whom is Tucker Carlson.”
