Tucker talks church fears with Russell Brand: ‘I can’t deal with it. It freaks me out!’

As religion and Christianity continue to be a hot-button topic in the United States, Tucker Carlson and Russell Brand have a frank conversation on church and spiritual warfare.

In the clip posted to X by Brand, Tucker talks about the idea that Christians come under spiritual attack once they take up faith leader positions.

Watch:

“There’s something incredibly dangerous about standing up and saying ‘you want to know what a Christian looks like? Look at me,'” Carlson said.

“And I’m afraid of that, I’m so afraid of that. One of the reasons I have a lot of trouble going to church is. all these Christian leaders are so flawed and so obviously fake. I can’t deal with that. It freaks me out!” he continued. “Why is that? Because they’re all under spiritual attack, that’s why.”

“They’re under spiritual attack?” Brand asked, incredulous.

“Yes, they are!” Carlson emphatically replied. “Everyone’s like ‘Why do all these famous Christian ministers have freaky sex lives?’ Well, why do you think? Because they’re under spiritual attack.”

“My college roommate once told me that the second he became a minister, after his first sermon this woman comes into his office and says I’ve had all these marital problems and would you do counseling, and then she hits on him!” the reporter explained. “But he’s wise, and he said I’m never doing that again, because I know now that I’ve held myself up as someone people can look to if they want to understand who Jesus is, I’m going to be under attack.”

“I like how Apostle Paul deals with it, with the thorn of just like right front and center [saying] ‘I’m a mess man, I’m a mess. Don’t try to be like me.’ And I’ve had good practice with that,” Brand jokes. “Plus I’ve got the sex out of the way as a younger man. I’ve put the hours in.”

“Acknowledge your failings, because then people will know that you’re honest.”

“Never be a fraud, boy that’s the greatest burden you can carry,” Tucker mused.
