UFC fighter Sean Strickland said he could “definitely see how Hitler happened” after visiting a Trump rally.
The controversial figure in the fighting world joined Shawn Ryan’s podcast when the topic turned to politics. Strickland asked the host if he had ever been to one of President Donald Trump’s rallies before describing it by invoking Hitler.
Watch:
“Oh, dude, it’s f**king nuts. So like, when you’re at a Trump rally, you’re like, ‘Oh, I could definitely see how Hitler happened.’ Like I’m not even f**king joking to you, dude. When you go to a Trump rally, it makes you question the sanity of everybody. Like, Trump’s up there talking about, like, ‘We’re going to throw people in jail for burning the flag,’” he said.
“Again, you shouldn’t do it, but it’s like, you know there is a f**king constitution. I’m looking at [Vivek Ramaswamy] and Vivek is just like f**king rubbing his head, and he gets out and leaves the Trump rally, and I’m like, ‘Ah, f**k.’ And everybody else is just f**king full send. ‘Yeah, f**k them! Throw them in jail!’ Like, if Trump said go grab a gun and go do anything, they would f**king do it. They would f**king do it,” he added.
“I know, it’s a cult,” Ryan agreed.
Despite the previously friendly relationship between the president and Strickland, it appears that relationship has broken down over time with increased criticism from the fighter. He has called Trump out over the Iran war and the Epstein files, and even threatened to vote blue if he didn’t like how the Republican Party acted. Perhaps because of this, Strickland was not chosen to fight at the Freedom 250 UFC event held at the White House.
In fact, when he showed up to participate as a spectator, he was escorted out.
“The unplanned presence of Sean Strickland drew significant attention from attendees, resulting in disorder,” read a statement from the United States Park Police Public Information Office. “Due to concerns for Strickland’s safety and the safety of event patrons, personnel from the U.S. Marshals Service, U.S. Park Police, and other assisting agencies evacuated him safely from the area.”
“Strickland was neither cited nor arrested in connection with the incident. However, he was advised not to return to the venue for his own and public safety,” the Park Police continued, adding that he was escorted back to his hotel room without incident.
