US military sends ‘unmistakable message,’ deploys nuclear submarine in Middle East

Amid rising tensions in the Middle East and the fear that the world may be on the brink of World War III, President Joe Biden has approved the deployment of a nuclear-powered submarine into the region.

In what is being billed as a “show of deterrence against further escalation,” the U.S. military deployed what is believed to be an Ohio-class nuclear submarine that can carry nuclear ballistic missiles as well as Tomahawk cruise missiles.

“The vessel comes as the Israel-Hamas war nears the one-month mark. Israel declared war after Hamas-led forces slaughtered 1,400 people during a surprise attack in Israel on Oct. 7,” Fox News reported.

“The U.S. is intending to send an unmistakable message to its enemies as officials acknowledging the use of these submarines or sharing information about their location is very rare,” the network added. “They represent part of America’s so-called “nuclear triad” of atomic weapons — which also includes land-based ballistic missiles and nuclear bombs aboard strategic bombers.”

The submarine is the latest entry as the U.S. ramps up its military presence in the Middle East — more than 17,350 military personnel have been redirected to the region since Oct. 7, including two carrier strike groups deployed, additional troops and the Bataan amphibious ready group, according to Fox News. F-35’s F-15s, F-16s, A-10s, and F-18s have also been sent to the Middle East.

Iran’s Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian warned the U.S. that it will “not be spared” if Israel continues its assault against the Palestinian terrorist group Hamas.

“I say frankly to the American statesmen, who are now managing the genocide in Palestine, that we do not welcome (an)expansion of the war in the region. But if the genocide in Gaza continues, they will not be spared from this fire,” Amirabdollahian said Thursday at the United Nations, according to Reuters.

U.S. troops have been attacked multiple times in the Middle East by Iran-backed groups since the Israel-Hamas conflict began.

More from Fox News:

The Pentagon confirmed last week that U.S. and Coalition Forces at Combined Joint Task Force Operation Inherent Resolve (CJTF-OIR) installations in Iraq and Syria have been attacked at least 28 times since October 17.

Of these attacks, 16 happened in Iraq and 12 took place in Syria. They included a mix of one-way attack drones and rockets.
