US Oil & Gas incinerates Sen. Ed Markey over Elon Musk criticism

A senator’s attempt to demonize Elon Musk’s latest accomplishment backfired bigly when a trade association called out his half-century of hampering those who’ve “changed the world.”

Friday, the initial public offering of SpaceX further cemented Musk’s standing as the world’s richest man, marking him as the world’s first trillionaire. While leftists like Massachusetts Sen. Ed Markey (D) grew livid at the milestone, the US Oil & Gas Association (USOGA) took to X to fire back at his own success of living off taxpayers for 50 years.

“Hello Senator….,” began an X post reacting directly to a statement from Markey. “This November it will be 50 years since you were first elected to Congress, so we want to be the first to say … ‘Happy 50th Anniversary of drawing a taxpayer funded salary.’ That is quite an achievement.”

“In fact — you are [the] 2nd longest-still serving member in Congress. It has been a long time since you held a private sector job. AND yes 50 years ago — in 1976 (it was America’s Bicentennial that year) — people still punched clocks back then. The world has changed a lot,” continued USOGA before tearing into the lawmaker’s career of regulating the success of others.

“During your 50 years in Congress — you watched as the creators and inventors and producers changed the world, creating trillions in new wealth, millions of new jobs and dramatically raising living standards for everyone rich and poor alike,” explained the trade association account. “And for 50 years you have voted to raise taxes and regulate and oversee every move of the private sector. You have never created or invented or produced. Just taxed and regulated and outraged.”

In his post kvetching about Musk’s accomplishment, Markey seethed, “Elon Musk just became the world’s first trillionaire. While working people struggle to get by, the billionaire class is becoming the TRILLIONAIRE class. It’s disgusting. I’m fighting to tax the rich so we stop rewarding trading stocks over punching clocks.”

Of course, lost amid the Marxist gnashing of teeth was the proof positive of trickle-down economics, as even middle-income earners at SpaceX who held stock options in the company were catapulted to millionaire status as a result of the IPO.

Before reactions began pouring in, calling out, “Ed has contributed to Ed. Elon has contributed to humanity,” while also lauding USOGA for calling out “the lazy, inept, and corrupt thieves we call ‘politicians,'” the trade association had some parting words for the senator. There was a message of snark-filled gratitude that Markey would sound off with how “disgusted” he is while using the free-to-use platform for free speech that continued to be possible courtesy of Musk.

“But thank you for using the platform the ‘TRILLIONAIRE class’ has provided to the entire world for free to tell us how disgusted you are,” wrote the account. “We would never know otherwise.”
