Pathetic vandals who appear to hate all that is good about America targeted the World War II Memorial on Thursday, defacing the Atlantic Pavilion honoring American troops who defeated Nazi Germany with graffiti and dumping bubble soap into a fountain.
“Clean Hands Dirty $” stated a bizarre message applied with red spray-paint.
Interior Department spokesman Cody Sargent condemned the vandalism in a post on X: “More disgusting vandalism from deranged losers. It’s pathetic to deface a memorial to our WWII heroes. Thankfully, I know our incredible [National Park Service] will get this cleaned up for the majority of Americans who love our country.”

The U.S. Interior Department called the vandalism a “disgrace” in a statement, and vowed to “find the person responsible for this disgusting act.”
“The World War II Memorial is a sacred place to honor the service of our members of the Armed Forces and the over 400,000 Americans who gave the ultimate sacrifice in WWII,” the department’s statement read. “The vandalism that occurred is an utter disgrace and will not be tolerated. Our U.S. Park Police are on the scene and the investigation is ongoing.”
The memorial underwent a $4 million renovation project earlier this year as part of President Trump’s sweeping “beautification” initiative in Washington, D.C., including updates to the fountains and lighting.
