A praiseworthy post about progressive “party poopers” pinpointed the problem with “big tent” intersectionality as infighting over the party’s future further plagued the Democrats.
“… STOP pooping in the punch bowl …”
On the heels of Islamunist Zohran Mamdani’s ascension to the position of New York City mayor, a wave of fellow Democratic Socialists of America looking to dismantle the American republic have found success in Democratic Party primaries.
With control of Congress at stake in the midterm elections, CNN contributor Van Jones joined the growing ranks on the left speaking out against the “REGRESSIVE” agenda “FAR outside” the ideals he’s long championed.
“I’m tired of being told that, to be a progressive, I now must swear allegiance to crazy ideas,” began a post from former President Barack Obama’s onetime Special Advisor for Green Jobs that went on to conclude, “Yes, we want our Democratic Party to be a big tent. But we don’t need ‘party poopers. So STOP pooping in the punch bowl — and telling us the turds are ice cubes. They aren’t. And we are smart enough to know the difference.”

Accompanied by a video sharing the same sentiment and highlighting the candidate for New York’s 13 Congressional District, Mamdani-backed Darializa Avila Chevalier, Jones said, “I’m a strong Democrat, with a winning bipartisan track record. I’m rooted in progressive ideals and policies: criminal justice reform, Green New Deal, Medicare for All, free education, clean air and water. These are ideas I have fought for my entire adult life.”
“But some people in groups like the DSA are pushing an agenda FAR outside those ideals,” he asserted. “Supporting Hamas is not progressive. ‘No police, no prisons, no borders’ is not progressive. Celebrating the murder of Israeli citizens is not progressive. These ideas are REGRESSIVE.”
Touching on how Trump Derangement Syndrome and the notion of “vote blue, no matter who” were being leveraged in favor of communists, the commentator added, “Right now, extremists are trying to sneak backwards proposals into our party, hoping mainstream Democrats are too frustrated with MAGA and the Democratic Party establishment to notice. But we see you.”
Jones is only the latest outspoken Democrat calling out the extremists in the party. As previously reported, longtime strategist James Carville sounded off after the New York primary about how he’s not in the same party with the radicals, “And I actually do think it’s time for Democrats to talk the ‘s’ word: schism. I really do.”
“Everybody’s always said, ‘No, no. We’re a coalition, we’re a big tent, and there’s just some sh*t that I can’t be in the same tent with,” said Carville, who further exclaimed, “I’m not in that f*cking political party.”
At the forefront of calling out Jones’ role in Obama’s administration while exposing his background, Hall of Fame radio host Glenn Beck was among those who offered his gratitude to the progressive commentator for the “wake up call” to others on the left, while others slammed him as complicit or too late.
“I am so happy to see [Jones] now seeing what I saw so many years ago. I just assumed he knew. Obviously not. I still disagree with him on MANY things but I support his wake up call to the good neighbors and family members that continue [to] vote differently than I do,” wrote Beck. “We have a country in common. What you are seeing from the left is a grave danger to our shared country and Republic. Thanks Van.”
