In the wake of a Thanksgiving Eve attack in the nation’s capital that tragically took the life of West Virginia National Guard Specialist Sarah Beckstrom and left West Virginian Air National Guard Andrew Wolfe in critical condition, much of the focus has been on how the alleged killer had come to be in the United States to begin with and measures to prevent future incidents.
Now, footage first obtained by The Wall Street Journal gave a better look at the attack itself and how peers had come to the aid of the guardsmen after they were ambushed by a suspected Afghan national.
Earlier frames in the footage show one of the victims attempting to evade the attacker, moving around a bus stop shelter while pursued by the man brandishing a firearm. At the same time, another guardsman could be seen repositioning while handling his own weapon before returning to his previous location.
It was then that the footage showed multiple bodies collapsed on the sidewalk.
According to details from attorney Mike Davis of the Article 3 Project, when the shots had rang out, a nearby National Guard major doing rounds had run toward the sound of the attack armed only with a pocketknife. When the suspect was said to be reloading, the major used the opportunity to strike and stabbed the suspect in the head.
Meanwhile, another guardsman had entered the fray and was said to have fired twice at the suspect, striking him once in the leg and once in the buttocks.
From law-enforcement source:
Afghan National, born in 1996, armed with a revolver ambushed a female guardsman, shooting her in the head, and a male guardsman, shot multiple times. They never saw it coming. Both guardsmen were armed.

Following the announcement that Beckstrom had tragically succumbed to her wounds, U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro of the District of Columbia had detailed the upgraded charges against the suspect.
Appearing on Fox News’ “Fox & Friends,” the former judge expressed her condolences for the family of Beckstrom, “who answered the call to serve her nation. And she volunteered. And she ended up being shot, ambush style, on the cold streets of Washington, D.C., by an individual who will now be charged with murder in the first degree. There are certainly many more charges to come, but we are upgrading the initial charges of assault to murder in the first degree.”
For her part, Attorney General Pam Bondi had stated her intent to pursue the death penalty against the 20-year-old victim’s killer.
At the same time, President Donald Trump had taken further steps toward reasserting national sovereignty to prevent more crimes against Americans perpetrated by foreign nationals by first pausing migration from third-world countries and then reevaluating the status of foreign-born individuals in the United States to determine if there is cause to denaturalize and deport those threatening to “undermine domestic tranquility.”
“Only REVERSE MIGRATION can fully cure this situation,” declared the president.
