Violent mob rams Border Patrol, HSI vehicles in LA, attacks agents during ‘lawful operation’

A violent mob of anti-ICE protesters attacked federal immigration enforcement officers as leftist violence continues to rage in the streets of Los Angeles, where Democrat-instigated riots broke out two weeks ago.

On Friday afternoon, Border Patrol and HSI agents were “violently targeted” in two separate incidents while carrying out lawful operations in the cities of Bell and Maywood when they were attacked by violent protesters who rammed federal vehicles and menaced agents as they attempted to prevent a possible illegal alien raid.

“Per federal sources, Border Patrol & HSI agents in the city of Maywood were targeted in two separate hit & run incidents this afternoon, in which suspects rammed into their vehicles. One federal vehicle was left disabled, and I’m told one suspect is in custody so far,” Fox News correspondent Bill Melugin reported in a Friday post to X.

Video shared on X shows that the federal officers were able to escape to safety after using tear gas or smoke bombs to hold off the mob.

“Today in Bell and Maywood, CA, Border Patrol vehicles were violently targeted during lawful operations,” the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) said, posting pictures of the government vehicles that were damaged by the mob.

“On Atlantic Blvd, one vehicle was rammed and had its tires slashed. On Slauson Ave, a civilian struck a federal vehicle, totaling it. The driver was arrested for suspicion of vehicular assault as a mob formed and slashed additional tires. LAPD, LAFD, OFO teams, and Border Patrol Special Operations responded and restored order. One suspect is in custody and will be presented to U.S. Attorney’s Office for criminal prosecution,” the agency said in a Friday X post.

“Federal law enforcement is facing an ever-escalating increase in assaults—but we will not be deterred. Secretary Noem’s message is clear: If you assault a federal officer, you will be prosecuted. CBP and our partners will continue to enforce the law—relentless and unapologetic,” DHS added, stating that the left-wing and foreign violence isn’t going to deter the mission to deport criminal illegal aliens and that those who attack federal officers will face consequences.

With elected Democrats tacitly egging on the resistance, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents have effectively had targets painted on their backs.

“The Department of Homeland Security released new data revealing ICE law enforcement is now facing a 500% increase in assaults against them while carrying out enforcement operations,” DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin said in a statement.

“Every day the men and women of ICE put their lives on the line to protect and defend the lives of American citizens. Make no mistake, Democrat politicians like Hakeem Jeffries, Mayor Wu of Boston, Governor Tim Walz, and Mayor Bass of Los Angeles are contributing to the surge in assaults of our ICE officers through their repeated vilification and demonization of ICE. From comparisons to the modern-day Nazi Gestapo to glorifying rioters, the violent rhetoric of these sanctuary politicians is despicable. This violence against ICE must end,” McLaughlin added.

She also noted that ICE officers and their families have been “doxed and targeted” in a disturbing invitation to commit acts of violence against them.

During a Friday visit to the “City of Angels,” Vice President JD Vance slammed elected Democrat officials for endangering the safety of law enforcement officers.

“Gavin Newsom and Karen Bass have got to stop this craziness,” he said, according to Fox News. “Every single law enforcement officer I talked to today, every single one of them, said they feel like the local leadership — the mayor and the governor — are encouraging these far-left agitators. What is the justification for this?”
