Viral video of explosion in Montana raises eyebrows as Chinese spy balloons float over US

A woman named Dolly Moore caught an explosion in the sky above Billings, Montana on video and it immediately went viral after a Chinese spy balloon was reported over the United States. The video has been verified, but there have been no reports of an explosion in Montana’s airspace.

The video has stirred up a massive response to the explosion and it is very curious why there were no reports of the explosion occurring. It could not have been the Chinese spy balloon because it was no longer over Montana and many would have seen it plummeting to the ground.

It should be noted this is not the first time a Chinese spy balloon has been seen over the U.S., according to Fox News host Tucker Carlson and others. Right now, according to NBC News, the Pentagon is reporting another one above Latin America. CNN is also reporting that Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Mark Milley recommended to President Biden not to shoot down the spy balloon.

Yellowstone County Sheriff Mike Linder said although his office had received many calls on the explosion, it could find no reports of an explosion in the area, according to KULR8.  The sheriff also said he made contact with Moore and believes the video is real. He added that it’s difficult to determine what the video shows.

He went on to confusingly assert that there is no evidence that an aircraft went down or that there was an actual explosion over Billings. The sheriff says there have been no other reports from anyone to law enforcement who may have seen the incident.

Moore was not the only one to get video either, evidently.

Montana governor Greg Gianforte sat down with Carlson on Friday evening and confirmed reports of a massive explosion over his home state.

“I was notified of it just minutes before we came on the air,” he claimed. “We are monitoring the situation. I’m talking to our National Guard to find out if they have additional information. I’m sure I will be briefed here in the next hour.”

He has not come forward with further comments on the incident at this time.

Gianforte stated that earlier in the week, he was not briefed by federal authorities until the balloon was “hundreds of miles into Montana. It had already flown near the [Malmstrom] Air Force Base and the ICBM silos.”

“When I finally got informed, it was over our most populous city [Billings],” he noted. “It got spotted by a photographer at the airport.”

“If it was up to Montanans,” Gianforte said, “this thing would have been taken out of the sky the moment it entered our sovereign airspace. It clearly had been there a while. It’s not moving that fast.”

The governor commented that in early briefings with the federal government, “they were contemplating taking it out of the sky. For whatever reason, they didn’t do that. Now, clearly, this went to the president’s desk. He was given options. For whatever reason, he chose not to act, and unfortunately, the result of that is that Americans are endangered and our enemies are emboldened.”

Republican U.S. Representative Matt Rosendale of Montana was alarmed over the development, tweeting that he was “genuinely concerned with the lack of transparency about the original Chinese Spy balloon and potential unexplained explosion above Billings.” He later shared the City of Billings update and said that he was “still following all of these events closely.”

Montana Senator Steve Daines warned that the balloon might have been targeting his state’s nuclear missile fields.

“Montana plays a vital national security role by housing nuclear missile silos at Malmstrom AFB,” Daines wrote in a letter to the Department of Defense. “Given the increased hostility and destabilization around the globe aimed at the United States and our allies, I am alarmed by the fact that this spy balloon was able to infiltrate the airspace of our country and Montana.”
